Anitihistamine : Does anyone know know liver... - PBC Foundation
Anitihistamine
I don’t know. Seems there a lot of liver enemies 😔
I take 1 4mg chlorphenamine (piriton) tablet a day as prescribed by my consultant, this helps with itching and my hay fever. I take it at night as it makes me drowsy!
It doesn't make everyone drowsy but you just need to take it once a day before you go to sleep. If you sleep during the day this might make it appropriate for you. My husband takes it every morning and it doesn't make him the slightest bit sleepy😀
I was told Benedryl is fine. I take 2 to 4 every night. There is also a powder the liver doc gave me but there are too many rules and I'm on warfarin for metal heart valve and thyroid meds. All specialists recommended Benedryl but you should ask your doc to be sure.
Hi. Apologies but I don’t understand what a liver metabolite is. Do you mean you found out it is toxic to the liver? Or processed by the liver?
I was prescribed Atarax for the itching, but it is an antihistamine. I have 25mg pills that I can take up to 4 times a day. I take one at 6pm with my evening Urso and then I take 2 more at 8 or 9 or whenever I go to bed because otherwise I can't sleep due to the prednisone so it would make you drowsy.
Anyway, I always have horrible seasonal allergies and this year, even being in Indiana where we are harvesting corn right now, no allergies! It never even occurred to me that the Atarax may be helping with that, but I believe it is.
