Can I have a healthy baby?

I am in Shanghai, China, just diagnosed PBC. I am 31 years old and half a year ago gave birth to an unhealthy baby, who was just live for 3 days. Could anyone in the community can give me some advice if the unheathy baby is relevant with my PBC? I want to have another baby ASAP but am so scared the same would happen. Thank you all in advance. We are together fighting our disease! Wish you all the best.

Hi there, very sorry to hear about your baby but I have good news. I was diagnosed with PBC at 21 i am now 40 and I have 3 healthy boys, one is 21 one is 20 and my baby is 5. I had my first two before I was diagnosed and married in my 30's. It took 3 long years of trying for my 3rd baby boy but it happened, the pregnancy went really well and he was born beautiful and healthy without any complications. I wish you every success with your next pregnancy and your beautiful new baby whenever that may be. Love to you xxx Suzanne

I am very sorry for your loss. The best advice from anyone is to speak to your doctor. I wish you the best of luck for the future. The PBC foundation is also a great place to go too.

Thank you. I will follow the instruction from my doctor. Merry Christmas~

Sorry to hear your story. My wife is 63 years old and found PBC around 15 years ago. Now, we live in Taiwan and are waiting for liver transplant. I am wondering whether your sisters and/or brothers have any negative symptom related to PBC. My wife's family has this issue. I have no any answer to your question although we have two babies. They were born before diagnosing to be PBC.

Thank you for your information. I have no brothers or sisters. My mom and dad are both very healthy, not suffered any liver problem. Hope your wife will recover soon and Merry Christmas to you.

My wife is trying to take Chinese medicine. Hopefully, it is useful.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

My doctor is very famous in China, especially in the field of PBC and AIH. He does not suggest to take any Chinese medicine, as Chinese medicine may accelerate the development. Hope the information can help you.

Hello, Sophiacai.

As far as we are aware, there have been no studies that tell us that PBC complicates pregnancy, in medical terms.

Common practice is for Urso to be stopped during the first trimester of pregnancy.

One of the things to bear in mind is the effect symptoms can have on quality of life. Becoming a new parent brings a whole new meaning to the word "tired" and if you add this to PBC fatigue then things can get difficult to manage.

The good news is you are planning ahead and can put in place systems and protocols (as well as are well informed about your PBC) in order to ensure any symptoms have minimum impact at this time.

Particularly after the passing of your first baby, I speak for the whole Foundation when we wish you the very best in any future pregnancies.

If we can be of further help, please do contact us directly.

Yours,

Robert.
