Bisphosphonates

I have PBC and osteoporosis and as I had problems with oral medication my consultant has advised annual IV Bisphosphonates. I am going to have bloods and teeth checked prior to treatment starting.

I also have a Hiatus hernia. ( Shoot me now!!)

Has anyone had any side effects from the IV treatment, should I go for it?

Hi Nonnies, I also have Pbc, osteoporosis and hiatus hernia. I take a monthly biphosphonate called Ibandronate for the past 8 years. First month I had bad indigestion but that settled and no more trouble since. Osteoporosis can be nasty so you definitely must take something - iv sounds good option for you as it cannot upset your tummy. Take heart and give it a try and let us know how u get on. Best wishes. Diane
