You could apply for pip at standard or enhanced rate, it's not dla anymore, those already have dla are being migrated over to pip. It's awarded not on what's wrong with you but how your illness affects your daily living x

There's a good website called 'turn to us' (I'll put the site below) that gives information on disability and benefits.

I did read awhile ago that DLA became PiP for over 16's. I read postings on disability benefits in case I might need to go down this route myself in the future but unfortunately I am not well up on benefits due to not claiming any previously.

My sister had a brain haemmorhage nearly 2yrs ago and she is still progressing on the mend but her way of thinking and how she does things means she cannot go out on her own even though her mobility is seemingly normal now. Her husband had to put in a claim for PiP after she left hospital last year and I know in her case she was awarded it quite quickly but I don't know at what level but reading a bit it seems it depends on your condition and severity.

Try a website called youreable.com

Was a fantastic help to me when I went through the pip journey last year, doubt I would have been awarded it without the advice. Can help with any benefit, equipment, mobility scheme etc x

Hi, Hay65.

Firstly, welcome!

Secondly, I hope you take the opportunity to join the PBC Foundation. We can give you an enormous amount of information with regards to PBC and how you can help yourself in living with this long-term condition.

With regards to DLA, or as it is now: PIP, many people with PBC do recieve financial help. Technically, this is more to do with the daily affects of symptoms and not to do with the name of the condition(s). As you say, if your symptoms are having more of an impact on your day to day life, then it might well be worth investigating.

Yours,

Robert.
