General question about frequency of injections

I often read statements like i get injections "3 monthly". In the US, that would generally be interpreted as 3 injections per month but I get the feeling that it means one injection every 3 months. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have been wondering about this for a long time and the two interpretations are vastly different. I hope someone can clarify this for me. Thank you so much!

In the UK it should be a loading dose of 6 b12 Hydroxocobalamin 1mg/mL over 2 weeks. Then 2-3 monthly . I.e 1 jnjection say May them next July or August.If neurological symptoms persist every other day until no further improvement. Most struggle on this maintenence regime . Some are fine

Thank you for clarifying Nackapan. I thought 3 every month was a lot (as a general recommendation) though I realize many need that many, or even more.

Yes, in the US, injections 2-3 monthly would mean to most people, 2 to 3 shots a month.

We would say injections given every 2-3 months, to mean shots every 2 to 3 months.

I was cut back from 1 every month to 1 injection every 3 months, my gp said new guidelines said we don't need b12 every month. That was 3 years ago but im now doing monthly injections myself, the difference is night and day.

Sometimes we just have to take measures into our own hands! Glad it is working for you. I am still working out what will be the right frequency for me.

Be guided by what ameliorates or gets rid of your symptoms. For ne that is twice per day.......been like that for over a year now. If I drop to dailt symptoms return. I assume I have no capacity to store it at all, goven that it takes they system 12 hours to get rid of any excess. Wish someone eould research this!!

This is very interesting. I have not heard of or considered injecting more than once in a day. I think I have the capacity to store it as my MMA went from 10 down to .14 after just two injections. That said, my pain is substantially lower on the day I inject but it doesn't last. Thanks for sharing.
