Need some help and advice please

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all keeping safe and well!

As I’ve previously mentioned before, I’ve had a few blood tests now where my GP has said my B12 levels are in range and fine.

However I feel my physical symptoms deteriorating. I’m sorry if these are too much information but I need to know if this is B12 related still or something else....

Sever anxiety

Breathlessness

Tight chest

Burning and tingling randomly all over the body

Stabbing pains in chest, back and shoulders

Feeling sick

Bad dizziness

Palpitations

Pain in legs sometimes when walking

Panic attacks due to the feeling I’m going to die

Pulsating tinnitus (I hear my own heart beat) this comes and goes.

My skin feeling like it’s burning when it itch it.

Pain and feeling bruised in random places.

I find I leak small amounts of urine every now and then, also when I sneeze or cough too hard.

Pain when breathing in sometimes (feels like it’s in the wind pipe)

I really do not know what way to turn, I cannot afford to buy my own injections so have been taking over the counter B12 and Folic Acid. My doctor prescribed me anti anxieties, haven’t taken away these feelings though.

Please, any help is appreciated. I don’t know how much more I can take :(

I know you are suffering as I have read your posts from months ago. You are going to keep fighting the stupid GP and she will not change.

BUY YOUR OWN INJECTIONS.

It is honestly the best way to take charge of your health with this condition. If you have so many symptoms and you were b12 deficient you will need far more injections than the crappy NHS will ever give you. It takes months (3+, 6+, 12?) to recover.

This might sound silly but have you had your hormone levels checked? I'm not sure how old you are. All the symptoms yes are b12 related but can also be symptoms of menopause. As I have both going on its difficult to know which is which. Is there any way you can change your Dr? She doesn't sound very helpful .Best wishes .

Be wary of blaming symptoms on the menopause or aging. I dud this and b12 deficiency not diagnosed

95% of my symptoms are were b12 deficiency not the menopause.

It's a know fact the menopause changes absorbtion. Also common for PA . Why b12 is not checked at 50+ check is beyond me . Or on a routine blood test form. If presenting with fatigue falls ect .

Would be good if everyone had a benchmark at what level was 'normak' for them when well.

It's a minefield isn't it? I was lucky a nurse at my surgery did a 50 year check but listened to my symptoms and checked for both! I know you have to be carwful not to blame everything on one or another as the symptoms are similar to a lot of different things. Always best to get things checked out.

My GP insulted my intelligence by trying to suggest my menopause was more to blame than my b12 deficiency for my symptoms. Incredible! He was male 😏

Hello :) I’m 22 hehe, so I hope it’s not the menopause just yet. I’ve had hormone and thyroid tests, both seem to be ok :) although keep pushing further for thyroid and I’m convinced that’s what’s linked to the anaemia, as it runs in my family and wasn’t picked up on their bloods either! Thanks for your message, I’ve been chasing them today, so I’m just ready to start feeling normal again x

Im sorry you are still so poorly.Keep going back .

Asked for another ' trial' on b12 injections as theh helped you.

Keep a letter short to the point

.

Keep it clear what you are asking for.

You have followed 'their instructions

Tablets are not working (b12)

Anti anxiety drug not helping enough.

State b12 injections did help you.

You want them reinstated.

It is the doctors duty to treat you.

Or refer if they arnt able to diagnose.

Get help from a parent or trusted friend.

If you write . Copy in the practice manager You are only asking to be treated

Short and sharp.

It will be scanned onto your notes.

If no response its because this has been done but a doctor hasnt read it!!

So phone ti follow up.

Make them listen.

I've found letters good as documented .

The doctor then has ti think again.

Look at BNF guidelines (their bible)

At the very least you should get 2 monthly .

Hope you find a solution soon.

Do get help from a trusted person

The Dr. says your levels are in range, but as we all know there's different "in ranges" in different parts of the UK.You have a right to copies of all of your blood results.

Request the results of all of your tests and post the relevant info here. This will help you be more informed and will also supply you with more ammunition to get what you need.

Thank you all so much for your help, I’ve been on to them today and I’m hoping this is now being sorted :) I’m very young to have this problem, I’m 22 and know it’s less common or thought of in my age, doesn’t mean it’s not happening though and think they’re understand and recognising that now, PA runs in my family, I have an uncle, a great uncle, my great grandmother and great grandfather also had this problem. Really appreciate the support, it’s really been getting me down, so fingers crossed I’m back to myself in no time :)

Hi, sounds like it could be B12 deficiency. First I am not a doctor but will share my experience. I have had very similar symptoms. It was horrible; I still feel sick with fatigue and often nausea daily. Began an antidepressant which dialed down symptoms such as anxiety and panic, but a neurologist suspects B12 deficiency due to my level being in “grey” area. A full range of blood tests is probably what your GP will recommend. What has your doctor said?My next appointment I want to discuss B12 shots. A good book for anyone who suspects B12 deficiency is Could it Be B12? by Sally Pacholok RN/BSN and Jeffrey Stuart, DO. I wish you well!
