You can stop worrying immediately ! I’m glad to tell you that you cannot overdose on Vitamin B12 . Read the information I from “ Stichting B12 Tekort “ in the right hand column of pinned posts l Cynocobalamin works fine , but Hydroxocobalamin should stay in the system a bit longer , so use that instead if you are able to get hold of it . Absolutely no harm in injecting every day , Are you also taking a daily folic acid tablet of 400mcg ? This works together with B12 . . Now this vitamin ( B9) can be overdosed , unless it is in food ( leafy green vegetables , peas best in source , but also in other fruits and vegs ) You may be able to lower your injection rate after a time if you get rid of the symptoms. But if you have been deficient in B12 for a long time without sufficient treatment , some symptoms may be irreversible . This happened to me . . I hope that you get other posts that will put your mind at rest , Best wishes to you .
I think that 5 mg of folic acid is really excessive if taken for long . 400 MCG ( micro grams ) should be plenty . Overdosing on folic acid can be harmful . and cause neurological , symptoms. Cynocobalamin is fine , and will not consume folate levels . Hydroxocobalamin could be injected less often , but probably not obtainable in Canada . Cynocobalamin seems to be the choice for injectable B12 on North America . Stay in touch and tell us of your progress .
I advise to check folate, vitaminD magnesium levels by way of blood-test first and go from there. Too much or not enough can cause you to feel ill, in my experience.
Good idea. Be careful with advise given. Wedgewood is giving you the right advise. Just because as some people make you believe they are only or just vitamins ... they work in balance with each other, too much of one depletes the other etc. I have had problems taken supplements, they aren’t always containing what is says on the box. Sometimes people take various supplements at the same time , which need to be taken 2 or 4 hrs spaced out for instance. There are many horror stories to be read on these chat sites. So do the right thing. Research, not on sites where they want to sell you products, but do it like you would do at college/ uni. You only have one body, be careful with what you put into it. Supplements are no hard drugs but they can still do harm.
Yeah it totally make sense. i was following that facebook group but i was skeptical about 5mg folic acid, im glad i stopped before its too late. This group seem lot more intelligent to me.
I inject twice daily & like you had many neurological symptoms.....still some persisting. Recently wrnt on gluten free diet and this has made a massive difference. Good idea to take a basic b complex with folate rather than folic acid.
Yes I inject daily and it’s been fine. I alternative thighs and where I inject. Hope you improve soon. I will keep trying to cut down, just for cost of it really, but each time so far I have felt tired on the second day.
My stepson is diabetic and injects 5 times a day and so once a day for me didn’t seem too bad! I just do what I need to do to feel as normal as I can and if that’s injecting everyday I don’t really worry.
I have been daily injecting since May 2020. I would be breathless coming up stairs but fatigue, pins and needles, depression and joint pain have been more my symptoms. I felt the difference in about 5 days and over the next few weeks I got about 80% recovered. I am still working with private drs and nutritionists to work out the last 20%. Some days I can do bit of running or a long walk. Still bit breathless on hills but that could just be my lack of fitness after two years being very ill!
