Sometimes you can feel worse before any improvements .

I have Addisons , PA, and thyroid disease too. When I started b12 injections I had to stress dose the cortisone and treat it like sick day rules. It gets better and easier as you go. I don’t stress dose now.

Hi,

A lot of people report symptoms worsening for a while before they start to get better.

"feeling washed out"

Has GP checked your potassium levels?

Some patients can experience a drop in potassium levels when they first start B12 treatment.

If you have neuro symptoms then my understanding is that you should have loading injections every other day until symptoms stop improving then an injection every 2 months .

GP can find the info in their BNF book Chapter 9 Section 1.2 or in BNF link below.

There is an increased risk of permanent neurological damage inluding problems with spinal cord if a patient is untreated or under treated.

Each CCG/Health Board/NHS Hospital Trust in UK is likely to have its own local area guidelines on treatment/diagnosis of B12 deficiency.

I suggest you track down the local guidelines for your area of UK and compare the local guidelines with the above documents.
