B12 100 Ampoules for €57.98

For those who maybe considering self injecting in these trying times due to the many posts I'm reading about clueless surgeries stopping their much needed injections.

I've just reordered B12 from Bodfeld Apotheke. 10 x 1mil x 10 for €57.98 plus €9.98 postage via DHL.

I have used Bodfeld a few times when they have this offer on & never have any issues & usually always arrive within a few days.

Yes thanks very much for very important information. This site is such a support and full of real people's battles with b12 deficiency. I'm having blood tests next week to check b12 levels and intrinsic factor. ..but usually the NHS tests are not accurate and give a high reading due to using the inactive b12. .so will be considering self injecting. Cheers.

It is not that the NHS test are inaccurate but that the test is inherently inaccurate.

I ordered to the USA 2 weeks ago and still haven't received. I think the United States postal service is slow. They complete the order from DHL.

Thanks Ritchie..I still have 12 cyanocobalamin injections (although I don't want to use them) and 2 hydroxocobalamin injections left. I am new to having a deficiency so I wanted to preorder those early in case I end up needing them.

Hi Richie. Where do you get the needles from?? And what sizes. Many thanks

Ritchie1268 profile image
Ritchie1268 in reply to Dizzielizzy

I get the needles from here. medisave.co.uk/ & use 2, one for drawing up B12 & the other for injecting. This is just incase I catch the needle on the glass ampoule & blunt the end of it.

I use 23G 1.25" for drawing up, (long blue needle) & the Orange 25G 0.5mm for injecting into my thigh as I don't have much fat on my thigh & it's a thinner shorter needle.

I buy mine from from praxisdienst.com/

They are based in Germany (I am in the UK) and they usually arrive by DHL in three days.

I ordered 100 of each of:

Injekt Disposable Syringes, 2ml, Art. No.: 421109

Disposable Sterican Cannulas, 23G, 0.60 x 25 mm, blue, Art. No.: 311216

Disposable Sterican Cannulas, 21G, 0.80 x 40 mm, green, Art. No.: 311202

The total order was only €13.88 including postage.

Thank you Ritchie... What sort of use by date do you get on 100 ampoules?

Ritchie1268 profile image
Ritchie1268 in reply to Rubyroo10

2.5 years, just keep stored in the boxes in a cupboard until you need them.

Thank you so much for sharing this..I am unsure of the needles..any help would be appreciated..my GP cancelled for six months by txt..I was mortified as need them monthly..I am 73 diagnosed by Endocrinologist & breast cancer 10 years ago..my cancer was dealt with by my brilliant NHS hospital with no problems..why are gp’s treating us like this..shameful..I have managed to get a private B12 and feeling better..I was left high & dry & felt awful as had not had my B12 since February..thank you again.

Thank you so much for kindly sharing this. I was diagnosed with PA 15yrs ago. I received loading injections then b12 inj every 4wks. I also have other chronic problems. Spinal stenosis on all levels, heart anomalies and RA. Sadly my Gp retired last year and I've had nothing but problems since. Up until then, my ongoing care was incredible. A practice gp partner (who is not my appointed gp) decided it was ok to switch me to 4 injections a year!! No consultation with me, nothing. Over Christmas I was very ill.

One of the practice nurses finally got my injections reinstated but only every 8wks. This week I received a phonecall from the nurse, profusely apologising, the same Gp had put me back to 3 monthly. Stating I was at risk of toxicity from b12 injections. Surely I'd be completely toxic after 15yrs if monthly b12...!!! I was very calm but sobbing and pretty much begging for help over the phone and mentioned I would need to seek legal advice as this is affecting my day to day life. Not to mention exacerbating my illnesses. The nurse was in agreement but unfortunately had to write the conversation on my notes which the same Gp has reiterated. I feel desperate, anxious and petrified of stepping foot in that practice ever again.

If you can offer any advice I would be most grateful.

I will of course be self injecting thanks to your share.. It would appear many of us have little choice.

Thank you again and I'm sorry to ramble on..

A GP (not my usual GP) had my NHS B12 injections stopped because I was also self injecting. Hotfooted this information to the practice meeting while my usual GP was on holiday.

I was sent a letter, given a choice: agree to the NHS injection every 8 weeks and stop self injecting - or carry on self injecting and say goodbye to the NHS one every 8 weeks.

So quite an easy decision, since I need frequent injections just to function.

This is how I knew I was due an injection today: I forgot that to poach an egg requires breaking egg into boiling water, not putting eggs (shell on) into cold water. I was quite surprised to find I'd boiled the eggs instead. I have done this once before, so only surprised - not disappointed or embarrassed. An edible mistake, and still breakfast after all.

This level of ineptitude can make life very difficult. Makes employment downright impossible.

A GP who takes away your ability to function even at a basic level should be questioning their own career choice, not jeopardising your's.

There is no known level at which B12 becomes a toxicity risk. In fact, it is used at very high levels as an anti-toxin in hospital. It is probably being used right now to help those in hospital fighting with coronavirus. It is also advised for those with a genetically proven functional problem to be given 2 injections a week. I know that because the consultant told me how difficult it is to get some GPs to comply with this. I can imagine.

In truth, I don't have to, this being the frequency that I need.

Not as a cure, just to keep from going downhill.

You have diagnosed PA which has been successfully treated with an injection every month for 15 years. Why would anyone want to mess with that ?

Ask him what are the signs of toxicity - and I'm willing to bet you will hear a list of all the B12 deficiency symptoms that he chooses not to recognise as such, even if you mentioned them all 15 years ago to the first GP.

Ask him where is the evidence for toxicity, and he's going to have to change the subject. There is none.

I'm not medically trained at all.

Do you belong to the Pernicious Anaemia Society ? It might well help to have their support with this GP. It is difficult to distance-fight alone when so ill.

You deserve better care than you are now being offered.

You weren't rambling on at all. This is what rambling looks like !

Good morning Cherylclaire and thank you so much for your amazingly encouraging reply. I'm sorry about your eggs but know exactly where you're coming from.

Yes, I am a member of PAS, they simply said...self inject, that was it. He said he was far too busy to help, maybe a called at a bad time. I joined last year when all this nonsense began with the female Gp who's hellbent on ruining my life. She's succeeding so far, that's for sure..

I've barely slept all weekend because I'm so scared and worried.

I am a medical professional, retired due to ill health but it honestly beggars belief that she's getting away with this. Right now, she is.

I couldn't live with myself had I purposely allowed a patient to suffer needlessly. It goes against everything I studied hard for. We care from our hearts, it doesn't disappear.

Maybe in her case, it has.

I've checked my notes this morning and the very same Gp is now saying I dont have PA just very low b12 (it was 109) Despite the fact it's there, logged clearly on the day of diagnosis. It was a definitive diagnosis. I remember my old Gps phone call all those years ago. I had to see him as a matter of urgency the very same day he received my results. He said I had Pernicious anemia and would need regular injections for life! Sadly, irreparable damage had been done (his words)

Thankfully I have so much correspondence from my various consultants referring to my diagnosis, the damage it has caused etc.

I'm honestly in a state of shock, complete panic, sadness and anxiety right now.

I'm just so sorry I'm pouring my heart out here and possibly not making much sense.

I am very grateful to you all though. I'm normally quite a private person but feel a huge need to reach out to others who, sadly are struggling too.

Thank you 🙏 xxx

It's terrible how you, along with so very many others are being forced to suffer.

What I don't understand is the sheer ignorance of many doctor's.

What they don't seem to understand is that by stopping people's injections, other damage will occur which will no doubt cost so much more to treat, which is why so many are being forced to take their health into their own hands & self inject.

There would be uproar & rightly so, if they told diabetics they were stopping their insulin etc.

Take care.

Thank you..

Exactly! I cannot understand at all why she is doing what she's doing but I do fear, as it's been said...she will not change her mind now. She's blind to my pleas. Possibly likes her feeling over overpowering me. She definitely has.

Thank you so, so much. You have both helped me today and really given me some focus and strength.

Warmest wishes

Please take care too. X

You are making total sense. This GP isn't though.

Wonder what on Earth this GP thinks could have caused your B12 to drop to 109 (unit of measurement: ng/L or pmol/L ?) - if not PA ?

Keep tight hold of all of your records. If necessary to support your case, send copies of them. Whatever you do next, keep yourself well.

Please do not feel compelled to follow a regime that you know already doesn't work for you, just to prove that it doesn't work for you. She's not listening. You could waste years of your life trying to alter her mindset, but would probably end up having to self inject anyway - only from a position of further deterioration.

What this GP thinks bears no relationship to your medical history:

previous GP's diagnosis, consultants'reports, treatment, response etc.

I am a teacher. Now and again, you get one that is "not available for learning" - in other words, a decision has already been made regarding superior intellect which is irreversible. Sad, luckily rare- but all efforts will be futile, I think.

I am sorry that you had no luck with the PAS - they are no doubt snowed under with pleas for help right now. I think you already know that you are going to have to self inject at this point to stay well.

I am sure you are also aware that anxiety, self-doubt, mood swings (including low mood) can all be signs of B12 deficiency - along with many, many other symptoms that are recognised only by the best and most observant of medical professionals.

The ones who are not afraid of learning.

You take good care and keep in touch.

Cherylclaire..

I honestly dont know how to thank you for your kind words and direction. You've helped me more than you know.

I feel extremely humbled by the kindness and time given to me. Thank you. Xx

I agree with everything you've said.

The stress she's caused has really knocked me sideways. Exacerbating everything. I'm normally quite strong but one can all only take so many knock backs. I fear she knows this too.

I will keep tight hold of my notes should I need them as evidence although I fear her mind is made up, despite years of evidence to prove she is wrong.

Huge thanks to you. Take care.

Ali. X

Really pleased you have been able to get some ordered.

I am very fortunate that my GP surgery is one of the few who are still doing injections, but will only do 3 monthly which has never been enough for me.

I have been having to self injecting every other day for 17 months now & feel loads better.

It's terrible that so many are being denied what is essential treatment.

All the best to you & your daughter.

Take care
