Private B12 injections

Hello I'm new to this section of the forum. My husband has pernicious anemia and the GP will only give him B12 injections every 12 weeks. He sleeps much of the time and has very little energy. He's asked a few times for more frequent injections as we keep hearing of others who get them more frequently but they keep saying no. So we're getting desperate and want to look into buying them privately but don't have much money as were on benefits because he can't work and I can only work part time. I would be grateful for any advice.

The first thing to try is to go back to the doctors and inform them that the recommendations for hydroxocobalamin injections changed last year. From 'every three months' to 'every two to three months'. So there is nothing at all to stop them from increasing to 8-weekly jabs.

I would write them a letter saying that you'd been informed of this and asking to have the frequency increased.

If they still refuse then I would take the battle to a higher authority. At the same time I would take my healthcare into my own hands.

You can get B12 injections done by beauty salons who cater for rich idiots. They can give you the jabs - at £30 a go!

Or you can do what many of us here do and buy B12 from Germany and inject ourselves. 10 ampoules costs €8.49 with €9.88 postage. You can buy 100 ampoules for €52.89 and the postage is the same. versandapo.de/advanced_sear...

Yes, needles and syringes from medisave -

It's better to use two needles as the one used for getting the B12 out of the vial is easily blunted by scratching it on the glass.

That's a good question I may need to know the answer too when I get the viles and needles. Im still having trouble ordering them🙁. I can't get the website to fully translate into English, the part where you put in your address remains in German. And when I figured out it was asking for my post code it wouldn't accept it when I put it in🤨🤔☹️

Try using Amazon Pay if you have an Amazon account. It grabs your address automagically.

Use syringes with removable needles. Put the green needle on the syringe, suck up all the liquid plus some air (one reason for using 2 mL syringes), remove the green needle, put on the blue needle, hold the syringe with the needle pointing up and squirt the air out of the syringe.

Hi, I'm relatively new to this site , I have tinnitus and insomnia , I had tinnitus for some 6 years but do to some doctor negligence it became worse and now I hear in the head too. I am deficient in B12 and I'm in US and they only give you cyanocobalamin , I got one shot and then my doctor told me to take pills, my b12 levels dropout again but she told me the to continue to take the pills. I was always fatigue , I had shortness of breath ,heart palpitation ,joint pain hair loss ,loss of balance and the list goes on and my doctor never checked my vitamin levels always referr me to another specialist . Are you in Germany ? Do you think hydoxocobalamin is better than methylcobalamin? I have a friend in Germany and he can send me some injection but I have only one opportunity ,he's moving from Germany and I don't know what type of b12 is better ? (I hope to help with my tinnitus that drives me insane) Thank you in advance for your response!

Hydroxocobalamin is better than methylcobalamin.

Cyanocobalamin is better than methylcobalamin, so I would try to get your doc to give you more shots. Otherwise I would find a different doc.
