I phoned the hospital that I went to and was told if no contact for 8 years notes are destroyed. Even if your condition is ongoing but you only under gp and not been to the hospItal for 8 years.
That's hardly concluded as you may have to go back??? In my case i didnt .
Good for you! Well done on pursuing this - I feel the health services are often too flippant about people's lives.
My friend, a nurse, is often appalled by the way people are treated in hospital compared to our farm animals which are cared for with compassion, dignity and respect (and love) - we keep all our veterinary records for generations in case there is a correlation with something in the future!
Hi, this is my first post although a member for several months.
Your comments are spot on, and I am a victim.
I would like to enlighten you to the fact, that it is the governments decision regarding records, not the BMA, and possibly hunt. I draw a pension from a council, one of their many subsidiaries, and when I made a query, was told that “ as it has been over 7 years, I am not entitled to any information “. Will fight, I am their favourite leaseholder.
I have a raft of info, both medical and not, but relevant. So will try and post soon, to open your eyes, if it does, from a British prospective, as I understand that our system is different.
Lastly, there is a petition started by 2 hospital doctors, to say “ hands off our NHS “.
