What a rip off

My local network beauty therapists are now advertising Vit B12 injections at 38.00 per injection. I guess she is making a substantial profit.

She is advertising as a cure all for just about everything. Judging by the amount of comments she has had they will be queuing out of the door.

If she is advertising that it actually has medical benefits then report her to the ASA.

I did this with somebody making wild claims for a B12 preparation on Amazon. The ASA investigated and passed their findings on to the MHRA.

I will re read her ad and double check. I wonder where she gets the B12 from and if it's safe.

£38 is cheap, compared to most others I've seen.

Bloody vultures preying on the gullible.

The ones having it probably don't know what it's like to be B12 deficient.

Yes , they’ve probably read that it’s all the rage in the USA , or the fact that show-business people like Simon Cowell do it .

One of the nurses that was injecting me said I was lucky to have it on the NHS. She has to pay £40 for hers at the beauty salon.

As she was just about to stick a needle in me I didn't say a word.

I thought i wasnt 'lucky ' to need them. I thought why is she having them? I thought I've not cost the NHs at all up to now

The doctors didn't know me.

Thes

places give b12 the wrong status.

No wonder there is so much ignorance around b12 defiency and PA. Surely it won't do anything if you donr need it.

I personally wouldn't choose to have b12 injections for the love of it.

Me neither would rather I didn't need it. These health fads are all about making quick and easy money.

in reply to Nackapan

It probably costs the NHS more to give you the injection than £40 Nackapan. There is the doctors time to write the prescription as there has to be one, it is an injectable material so can only be dispensed with one. Then the dispensing charge, the surgery receptionist time making the appointment, then the qualified nurse time in actually giving you the injection. Finally there is the recording of the event and filing it. Just think how much us self injectors are saving the NHS for doing it ourselves and at a cost of about £1 per shot to us. Perhaps we should get a rebate.

What type of B12 is it? Hydroxo, methyl or cyano?

Stephanie6637 profile image
Stephanie6637 in reply to pvanderaa

It doesn't say

Cyano is cheapest, hydroxo next and methyl is the most expensive.

Her Facebook page is Jennifer Smith Aesthetics, seaham. She is saying it's good to use after a night out, for jet leg and area other things. She says it's good for hair and nails as well.

Cant say a thing about hair but nails -yes mine have improved fatastically they were horrendously weak and very ridged before.....but the main effects are much more dramatic than nails! Never heard of it being a cure for jet lag!! Be interested to know her medical reserve to back all her claims! Lol....

NICE guidelines say that people with neurological symptoms should be given B12 injections every other day until the symptoms stop improving. So why does my GP not follow these guidelines? I have 15+ Symptoms? Which are the best/cheapest places to buy the B12 injections? I have seen that some people use German websites. I think my French might be better understood . Or even Spanish?

My GP doesn't follow the guidelines either she says it's down to local health authority guidelines. I cant answer you question re buying them but am sure someone will help you out.

On another point, is it a symptom of B12 deficiency that I sometimes accidentally bite the inside of my cheeks or my tongue?

Stephanie6637 profile image
Stephanie6637 in reply to Oundle

A symptom of it is mouth ulcers maybe that's what you have?

Oundle profile image
Oundle in reply to Stephanie6637

No, that’s not the same thing at all. I have had mouth ulcers, but that’s not what I’m talking about now.
