I need help getting proper needles and syringes for self medicating with B12 for the pain. One injection per month is not enough.

I am in the USA and have access to B12 for self medicating but can't buy the necessary needles and syringes. Can anyone help with sizes and types I need? The docs are giving me one injection per month and it is not enough to take care of the pain.

Depends on the state. In my state I can buy insulin needles at any local pharmacy. I only need to show ID. Maybe you can order in Amazon?

Are insulin needles large enough to withdraw the B12 from the ampule? I thought the liquid is thick and needs 2 size needles to withdraw and then inject.

Yep, they work just fine. One of the clinics I was getting injections from used an insulin needle for B12. I use a multi dose vial so I don't have experience with the ampoules.

I also have a multi dose vial. I didn't think you could use the insulin needles. What dosage do you give yourself and how often?

For the past several months I inject mostly every other day. A few times I tried delaying and I really noticed symptoms. I've done every day a few times when I've been very active or stressed.

I never feel any effects from the injection. I only notice symptoms when I don't get enough. A day and a half to 2 days is about when I get symptoms. I'm hoping that time increases eventually ..but at least injections are inexpensive!

Oops, dosage I do is 1ml. Which is equal to 1000mcg or 1 mg of cyanocobalamin.

I'm here in the US. Did you get a prescription for extra B12 from your doctor? If you did, then when you gave the prescription to the pharmacy they should've given you the correct needles and syringes along with the B12. I gave my prescription to the COSTCO pharmacy and they gave me everything together.

My docs won't give me a prescription so the pharmacy won't let me purchase the correct needles. What to do?

Did your doctor say why they won't give you a prescription? It doesn't cost them anything to give a prescription. My doctor says you can't overdose on B12 so why not take as much as you need. I'd push back with your doctors to get a prescription. It' so easy once you have it.

I wish my doctors would give me a prescription but they won't. Which type of doctor gave you an Rx for B12?

He's just my regular GP. He's an older gentleman and he told me that during the 50s and 60s B12 was the go to prescription given out by doctors. He said he doesn't know why it seems to have dropped off the diagnosis radar in the past 30 years. Many of his patients are older, like myself, so he has other patients who are on B12 shots. I joke with him that he should open up a drive thru window for B12 shots.

Quick google search. I live in Florida. Allegro Medical has needles. I use a 25g x 1” to both fill the syringe and inject into my thigh

Needles don’t need a Rx. I wonder where you can get the B12 without a Rx as that is the problem I am having. Doc doesn’t think i need shots every week

Buy-otc.com is the only option. They ship from Canada. I just got an order from them, great customer service. The others are in different countries and shipping will cost a fortune IF they will ship to Us and IF it gets through customs. Technically you have to have a Rx in the USA and some pharmacies will force you to send a Rx. Some online will charge you for a Telemedicine consult to get a Rx that way.

I had zero problem with Buy-otc.com in Canada. They did call to discuss the B12 and make sure I knew what I was doing. They also sell needles but so does Walmart, amazon etc etc.

It’s best to just buy from a medical office that sells them as kits with instructions and now that more doctors are using telemedicine it’s not hard to get a prescription. Sure, it requires a form to fill out and a phone consult but it’s easy to do and way cheaper to buy this way than going in for weekly injections. I live in the USA and the best syringes I found and am purchasing are online at westendmedicalsupplies.com/ . I tried getting them at the pharmacy but they could never get the needle size right and it was always weird asking for them when I was not picking up medication. I use a 25G x 1" needle with a 3ml syringe. The above place sells these individually packaged and their syringes do not stick. Also, their needles are not crooked. I ordered off of Amazon over a year ago and their needles where crooked and their syringes did not depress smoothly. They are also cheaper at westend if you buy a box of 100.
