I took some DGL about 10hrs ago is it safe to take some Betaine hcl now for bloating?
Woundering if there is any bad intera... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Woundering if there is any bad interactions between these 2 takeken in the same day
Here are the ingredients for the first type of DGL I found on Google - Sorbitol, Vegetable Magnesium Stearate, Licorice Flavor, Silica
Sorbitol is an artificial sugar. It can give many people diarrhoea if taken in more than small quantities.
Magnesium stearate is a form of soap - used to make the capsules slippery and easy to swallow.
Licorice flavor will be a bunch of chemicals with probably unknown properties.
Silica is sand.
I can't see how any of them might be a problem with betaine or hydrochloric acid.
I have used them both together with no side effects and I use 3 hcl tabs at breakfast and 4 at lunch and 5 at dinner. I icky used DGL liquorice for a short period as wasn’t convinced it worked
Hi Whygodwhy555. Not sure if you are aware of this but just a couple of contraindication warnings in relation to HCL...
HCI (Betaine Hydrochloride)...this should not be taken if you have active gastritis or any sort of gastric/duodenal ulcers. It would be like pouring acid on an open wound...and it may prevent ulcers from healing.
Also- those taking prednisilone (or any form of steroids) or long-term NSAID's (like ibuprofen) should not take HCI and it should be avoided if diagnosed with any form of kidney disease.
It may also increase cholesterol and shouldn't be taken if using cholesterol lowering medications (one will cancel out the other).
May cause nausea, diarrhoea, or gastric problems...though this may ease once the body adjusts to it.
Also - taking both DGL and HCL a bit confusing. DGL to ease reflux/acidity and HCL to increase acidity...???
