I just googled it , and in a Malta medicines document from 2008 , injectable Hydroxocobamalin was labelled P.o.M - Prescription only Medicine .

But spacey1, as Malta is a member of the European Union you should be able to source without any problems , injectable B12, be it Cynocobalamin or Hydroxocobalamin , from German online pharmacies . I use “ versandapo. de in English “ . Many members of this site have to do just this , because also here in the U.K. injectable B12 is also only obtainable with a prescription . The NHS here uses Hydroxocobalamin , so that is what I order . If you go on to the site , search for Hydroxocobalamin , and a drop down menu will appear with ‘ Hydroxocobalamin acetat’ - click on that and you will get all the different offerings . Do not type in Hydroxocobalamin acetat directly yourself , because for some reason you will get no result ! I hope this is of help to you .

I don't think we can assume it is legal in Malta.

Importation of medicines for ourselves (and household) is a specific exemption in UK law - not an EU law or directive.

Thanks helvella and wedgewood! I was just asking because I was going on holiday and I can't manage a week without a jab at the moment. I had been hoping to pick up some B12 in a local pharmacy.
