Few questions, regarding the B12 shots, I started recently.

Hi all, I have few questions regarding the B12 shots. I have completed my week 1 of shots i.e. 3 shots every alternate day.

1. GP prescribed me 6 shots for 2 weeks so that should total to six 1mg injections, but the pharmacist gave me 10 injections, so I am not sure if the extra 4 are for the whole year or so??

2. I had my periods 4 days early and I am feeling really low and stressed since these 2 events, taking shots and periods. So is this NORMAL? I am not feeling energetic and even my mind seems more foggy......

3. I have sharp pain on my right collar bone side after the shots, they subside if I apply some pain relief rub/ointment. Does anyone has any such info on this??

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

the injections come in packs of 10 as standard. suggest you speak to the pharmacist/your GP

some people can feel overwhelmed by the injections for a few days. aches and pains can also increase initially.

has the problem with your eye been resolved?

FYI 1 mg shots is only 1000 mcg, so that's a pretty small dose. We only absorb 1/1000 of that so it's really only 1 mcg you're getting in that shot. If you're really deficient you need higher doses than that as loading doses to get your B12 up to normal levels fairly quickly. I take 8500 mcg a DAY for loading dose currently but I"m doing it by sublingual liquid B12 as my doc doesn't think my B12 is sufficiently low enough (I guess unless I'm dying on his doorstep he thinks i"m fine) but I have horrible neuro symptoms, could hardly walk, numb left side, very painful muscles and feet an bones in my feet, knees, hips and I do not have arthritis. Every other disease process is ruled out, so I'm left feeling like a hypochrondriac but over the past few years my symptoms got to where I could hardly walk, now with loading doses I notice a HUGE difference. injections and oral supplements both absorb bypassing the gut...research what loading doses of B12 should be. You can also talk to your pharmacist about that. So you're taking 6000 mcg in 2 weeks, I take more than that daily. As Sally Pacholok says the doctor is trying to fill the swimming pool 1 teaspoon at a time, which does nothing and you will feel horrible unless you get proper loading doses. think of it as an empty gas tank and every injection you get is only putting in 5 dollars at a time! Most doctors are absolutely clueless on what loading doses should be... it's amazing but you have to do research on your own. Get the book Could it Be B12? and read it then give it to your doctor. You can get it from Amazon or any good book store. It's the B12 bible. It's written so doctors can also figure out what to do because most are clueless on this issue amazingly enough. youtu.be/OvMxJ6GRBNQ and youtu.be/BvEizypoyO0 watch those
