Thyroxine wow

In the mad excitement over B12 and self-injecting every other day, I was a bit upset that my condition hadn't budged after 6 weeks. My very good GP looked at my most recent blood test results and said my thyroid looked ever so slightly low (I honestly think it was barely low - my previous GP had said it was fine) and she'd try me on 50mg thyroxine. The result was immediate and after just a few days I feel 90% normal again, with good energy levels. It felt like a miracle. Still don't know what the B12/thyroxine ratio to 'cure' is but just in case anyone needs a reminder to look at thyroid isssues too - even if they don't appear to be there!

What were your thyroid levels Pingo ? I'm interested because my mother is hypothyroid but my TSH is always normal in tests.

I'm really sorry but I don't know. I only know that my first GP said they were normal and my (good) new one said they were just borderline low. I guess what I've learned on this forum is that "normal" is different for everyone....

You can ask for a copy of your blood test results, you're entitled to do that. I thought it would be a palaver, but in fact my surgery just printed them off at the front desk and handed them to me. Obviously, not all surgeries are that accomodating, but it shouldn't be a problem if you want them. Some members on here advise getting copies of all tests the GP runs.

If you have low normal t4 or t3 and normal tsh this means pituitary problem and you shoud check also acth and cortisol and dont take thyroid hormones until you fix cortisol first it could be very dangerous.

Gosh, that's great. It's really hard to get diagnosis and treatment for low thyroid so well done. Lucky you have a good doctor.
