I'm 35 and desperate for a baby. My tubes are completely blocked so I will never have a baby naturally. I'm still very unwell as you can see from my previous posts but Its breaking my heart that ivf now seems even further away than ever.....

Having my daughter is how my PA was finally found and treated (after having undiganosed PA for 15 years). Having her made me so ill I almost died and had to have blood transfusions. I was so ill and then diganosed with post-natal depression on top that I ended up not even wanting to be in the same building as my daughter!! It took me almost 2 years to get myself sorted and afterhaving lots of long talks with medical people the idea of even trying to have another child is out of the question.

😢 maybe now your receiving treatment it would be better??? I'd do anything for a baby of my own.

Hi Dani82,

I'm not sure I know the answer to your question, but I can only imagine how you must be feeling, and I didn't want Penni's response to be the only one you got.

I have never experienced fertility problems or IVF, so can't say anything about the impact of PA on these.

I strongly suspect that my PA/B12-deficiency started before I had my children, and like Penni, I suffered massive blood loss when I had my first child and all kinds of problems with all 3 pregnancies and births. However, I did not experience any post-partum depression, and my children were all healthy.

Everyone is different. Hopefully now you know what's wrong, your symptoms will start to improve, and you'll feel you can move forward.

I wish you all the best.

I wish that was the case but sadly not. My daughter will be 8 in December and after everything I went through it's not worth the risk too my own health no matter how much I want another child. It just wouldn't be fair to all involved.

It increases your risks but with enough of the right treatment you could be OK.

I couldn't ever have children and at the time there seemed to be no known cause. Now I have a diagnosis of B12 deficiency I suspect it was because I had been B12 deficient for many years and my homocystenine levels were too high for any conception to last long enough for me to become properly pregnant. I suggest you see if you can get your levels checked and make sure you are getting enough B12 and supporting supplements for everything to proceed.

I know you don't want to think of any other possibilities but if you don't get pregnant, in time your body clock does switch off and the anguish of not having a baby does gradually disappear.

Until then, use the drive it gives you to research whatever you can about B12 deficiency and how to overcome it. Once you are as well as possible you stand the best chance of the IVF working - and you will be in a better position to cope with everything.

Good luck!

Even more reason to get you well ASAP! Go for it - it is possible!

A couple of years ago I could barely walk or talk. I'm self-employed so couldn't be off work for too long and had to find a solution and am pretty good by most people's standards now.
