Acne b12

I had loading shots of b12 3 a week for 2 weeks, on my 5th shot I came out in micro pimples on my hairline, face, shoulders, back and chest. It has taken over 2 months to clear and I'm due a next shot in a couple of weeks. I'm absolutely dreading it as this acne was horrid it was also like eczema which I have suffered from in the past. The doctor denied knowing it was anything to do with the shots. I know it was and I will do another blood test to check if I need the next shot if I do I may see if there is another way I can have it as the acne has affected my cofidence.

Unfortunately it is symptoms that count not serum B12 test once you have had loading doses.

The pimples/acne, is likely to be caused by microbes on your skin reacting to the additional B12 by producing substances that your skin is then reacting to. In theory this could be resolved by use of a good skin wash. You might have better luck talking to your pharmacist and seeing what they can recommend prior to your next maintenance shot - though there is always a chance that it was something that won't recur.

I also got loads of spots on chin and forehead also chest and back after loading doses. They've all cleared up now but still occasionally get one or two huge ones on chin . I have six weeks to wait until next injection and to be honest I'm just hoping to keep my head until then no matter what it looks like . Try not to get too down about it and hopefully the next jab won't cause the same issues 😊

Thanks guys. My b12 levels were fine when I was vegetarian, but since going vegan this is where I've had issues. If this is the case then I don't think I'll need injections as much as somebody whose body is not absorbing b12 from what I've read. I'll talk to the gp about it, here's hoping I'm over the worst of it. I use a really good face wash but I've also read staying off of alcohol & gluten can help too.

Hi Mariaella... I have the same problem.. I'm si every other day and have been for 2 months... Someone on the forum recommended zinc... I Googled it and it said it can ward off acne... I started it 10 days ago and my acne is getting better every day...Just a little every day.. But enough to notice... Worth a try... Good luck 🤞...

Hi Frances, I'm also taking zinc, and calcium and drinking chrysanthemum tea which is said to cool the body and I've really noticed a significant difference! I have a meeting with the gp today so we shall see what they suggest.

I've never had good skin, but it got worse since starting injections.

but I noticed that when I started taking folic acid (as folinic) it got better, it's just my personal experience, I don't have an explanation for it. maybe the spots are a sign of the b12 draining folite.

I also had really clogged pores, lots of whiteheads. I was constantly giving myself facials (not the spa kind :)) but I did a white clay mask this weekend (just a simple organic one from french brand cattier) and it worked miracles
