Finally got to get B12 injection this afternoon. After being persistent with gp that I needed it after 8 weeks. Woke this morning feeling awful.. pain in joints exhausted.
Nurse called me in . And said "U having this early I read notes from GP.. your next is due 28th september . You cant have it any earlier and need to have a blood test to see if you need it first . To much is as dangerous as to little" veryagressivly without cleaning site jabbed needle in my arm .. then said remember blood test first and not before 28thseptember. Left surgery in tears .. I'm so upset . Luckily people have been so kind on here and given me advice and support on self injections which thanks to wedgewood i have five injections to go on with. But been at thisdoctors 20years .and my gp has just left . Unsure wether to change Surgery or will I just have same problem in somewhere else x

The big downside of self injecting is that it will "skew" any further test results - unless you are prepared and able to bear the cost if you need them long term.
Are there any other drs at the surgery you could see? Sometimes moving surgery is a frying pan to fire experience.
I have recently had a shock at my own surgery, in the fact that a dr i had avoided seeing at all costs (due to not being happy how he treated me years ago) actually knew about b12 and its consequences and treatment- if i had seen him originally i might have been treated differently initially. Now all i say to any dr i have an appointment with is that there is no point in retesting me as i take a high strength dose of b12- no point panicing them that i inject.
I hate hearing things like this - it makes me mad! I've been there and done that so I know exactly how you feel!
What we need is for a scientist somewhere to come up with a body changing machine, so that the docs and nurses can actually get a taster of just how ill we feel. I bet in our shoes, they'd see things just a little differently!
