Consultant Haematologist tomorrow.

Hi everyone, going to see the Consultant Haematologist tomorrow after waiting since Christmas. Hopefully now I'll find out why my blood isn't clotting.

I phoned up last week and they are doing a full blood test on me including T3, T4 and B12. I was due my B12 injection last week but postponed it due to this appointment.

At the moment I'm suffering badly with pins and needles in my hands and leg cramps. I feel like I've run the London Marathon as I'm exhausted and my energy levels have been zapped. Roll on tomorrow then hopefully I'll have an answer to this blood clotting problem and get it sorted. ☺

Hi there, yes I'm taking a list of questions with me. I've had problems with my blood for ages. The main one is being diagnosed with B12 definicity last year after so many years of being exhausted all the time, not sleeping, pins and needles etc. The other problem is my blood doesn't clot for ages, if I cut myself its like blood everywhere and can't stop bleeding.

I'm from North Wales, x

Hi,

Do you have a recent result for platelet levels? This would be on a FBC (Full Blood Count).

links that might be useful.

I have reda that thromobocytopenia ( low numbers of platelets ) can be associated with b12 deficiency and also with folate deficiency.

Hi Sleepybunny, the recent results I've got are from May when they did my bloods about 4 days after my B12 injection, they knew that but still went ahead with my bloods. So when I go tomorrow, I wouldn't of had my injection or anything so hopefully I'll have a better picture of my bloods. I woke up this morning with yet more bruises (no idea how I got them). ☺

Well I am also in that ring, have now been diagnosed with von willebrand disease which complicates the need for a cardioversion for the AF. I do feel better on beta blockers, the 3 monthly B12 injections seem to be lasting longer. Still forgetful with variable eyesight but not so exhausted. Good luck.

Hope appointment goes well and the haemo has some real knowledge of B12 and/or gets to the bottom of the problem
