Never had this. Something that requires a GP check-up I think. Hope all well.

B12 deficiency and folate deficiency can lead to a false menopause - you say you haven't had a period for 6 months - was that being presented as early menopause?

Spotting can also be a sign of being peri-menopause - I had a 'period' last year that was really just spotting but went on for well over a week.

Definitely go back to your GP and get it checked out - it may be a sign of something that is nothing to do with B12 or it may be nothing to worry about - they can do a smear to check if there is anything untoward going on.

That's interesting margie70,

I assumed I was in premenopausal mode as I only had 4 periods in past 12 months. So it looks like it could be caused by b12 deficiency which I hadn't thought of. After my first 2 weeks of loading shots I suddenly had a period, 4 months after my last one and it lasted 11 days! I hope it's not a side effect that is going to continue.

I don't know your age but I'm in the menopause age bracket, but if you are younger you should definitely mention it to your GP. They can be useful sometimes! :-)

I'm 46 apparently my GP tested my hormone level there was no suggestion I'm menopausal . I'm due surgery at the end of yr on my bowel as I have extensive endometriosis attached there. Needless to say I'm having second thoughts it's a min four hour surgery.

My GP said my menopause screening was normal but I've since discovered that unless they know where you are in your cycle they can't say! I'm 52 so I would say I am definitely experiencing the menopause.

I did have surgery myself in 2003 for endometriosis as a cyst had grown on my ovary. Both cyst and ovary were removed, but it had stuck to the bowel so took a lot longer Than anticipated. recovery was straightforward though. I hope your surgery goes well. :-)

I thought I was done with periods completely not having had one for about 9-10 months and very irregular before that but once I got to the monthly B12 jabs my regular monthly cycle returned and continued for well over a year - I was surprised at that! Just becoming erratic again now!

I'm 45! Just started b12 which I self inject! It really has upset my cycle! First period was very heavy! Normally have extremely light periods! And have had those familiar twinges that I was getting a period mid cycle, but didn't spot! I have only been injecting myself about a month
