Hi I am Phil 53 years of age and have been on 3 monthly injections for about 5 years. I saw my blood test results Mean Platement Volume was low 6.8fl which could be a sign of Thrombocytopenia I would be interested to find out if this was common amongst the members here

Thanks

Phil

Possibly useful links....

Some links mention a possible connection between b12 deficiency and/or folate deficiency and thrombocytopenia because these deficiencies can affect platelet production.

Hi. I was diagnosed in July 2015. Although I was getting the injections I wasn't improving and getting nowhere with the doctors. I considered self injecting but decided to try methylcobalamin patches. I'm so glad I did - I now have some semblence of a life. I even considered giving up my job but around that time the patches kicked I and I'm still working. My last 3 monthly injection saw me reverting to the patches in 2 weeks but I shouldn't have waited so long. I'm now awaiting methyl lozenges to come by post and I'm planning on continuing my patches Monday, Wednesday and Friday and taking the lozenges in between. Another case of trial and error.

My advice? Don't wait too long for the doctors to "fix" you, there could be long term damage and your quality of life suffers. Do your homework though before trying anything and keep logs of what you take, how you feel etc. 😊
