Can anyone tell me where to buy b12 injections plus needles. I suffer from pernicious anaemia and struggle after 6 weeks before having to wait a further length of time for my next jab. Ruining my life.as I only feel well for 6 weeks out of 12. Any advice would be appreciated

I get my B12 from b-amazing.co, select the Mail Order icon. They do Cyano, Methyl and Hydroxo.

i inject intramuscularly and use a 1 inch 23 gauge needles. Syringe can be whatever size you prefer to handle I prefer a 5ml.

Most buy injection equipment from medisave - medisave.co.uk/consumables-...

Hope all that helps :-)

Hi there, this is really helpful for me too. I am due my 12 weekly injection tomorrow, but symptoms have been pretty horrible for the last month. My injection of Hydroxo is 1mg in 1ml. I'm nervous of self administering, but will follow your recommendation above and give it a go. Thank you.

Self admin is really easy my friend. I look forward to it now. Its a special moment when I know I am doing something that is good for my body and will help me.

Also because I'm in charge of how fast the solution enters the muscle and how tight I pull the skin at the needle entry point its painless, unlike when I have had injections from time pressured, in a hurry medical staff in the past (no disrespect intended they do a very hard job under difficult circumstances).

All ordered. I will b ready to self inject when I feel the B12 not working. Feel empowered to take care of myself and not be having to fight for an injection every month with my G.P.

Thanks for all the posts - very encouraging.

This is all wrong JBB12

This "that's what it say on the tin" syndrome that doctors seem to be locked into is ridiculous.

I wish (in a benign) way that our GP's be inflicted with the diseases they are treating so that they could experience at first hand just how a patient can feel when they don't happen to fit the "one size fits all" scenario.

I've had PA for over 40 years and was put on Cytamen 1000mcg (Cyanocobamalin) B12 injections every four weeks by nurse at my local practice surgery and generally speaking I've been fortunate that they have kept things mostly in check.

However, in my case, I sometimes find that by the end of the third week the PA symptoms start to return so for years I dropped in the occasional three week appointment perhaps two or three times a year.

Sadly, two or three years ago, I happened to say the nurse "see you in three weeks" instead of the usual "next month" and she reported me to the GP who then "forbade" me from having an earlier injection.

I was absolutely furious and when I tried to explain the reasons why "I felt the need" and listed the symptoms he simply shrugged, opened his book of words in which it said "Inject every four weeks" and shut the book.

So, thinking I must be the only one who has this problem I joined the PAS, genned up and honed my arguments and went back to my doctor and after a lot of hesitation, umming and ahing he finally agreed to letting me decide when my next injection was to be done and the prescription now reads "as directed".

Please JBB12, don't live in misery - go back to your GP armed with as much information you can glean from this forum and PAS and calmly list and tell him/her how you FEEL.

I am not "an expert" - just a 74 year old patient with PA. and I wish you well and a successful negotiation with your doctor to get the treatment you need and deserve.

I am grateful for your advice and everyone else. I have struggled with gp and have now ordered my own stock. I will self inject in between shots at gp and hopefully feel well most of the time. Having suffered the last 10 years since I was 40 I need a life back!
