If so, what help (if any) are you receiving?

Im 46 and because I have PD, find it hard to know whether some of my pd symptoms are menapause symptoms, my doctor or consultant arent much help. Would like to hear from others in the same situation!!!

Hi I'm 48 and its never easy to unravel symptoms side effects and other factors! in a PD body. I didn't have periods for 3 years, then suddenly they came back with vengeance and I was advised it was menopausal. I had an amazing treatment under general anesthetic that 'zapped' me inside and stopped periods for good. But yes hormones did cause havoc, exacerbating all my symptoms.

im 49 and its very confusing on what symptoms are from what ailment. I found with time and learning more about PD which one is which. Menopause symptoms fade with time some what and PD doesnt. Night sweats, moodyness, I found for myself was menopause. Sorry cant help you more..

Hello I'm 52 and was diagnosed in October 2011, not sure if menopause was causing problems or the bloody PD, work part time, still going through the menopause and coping with the PD, Oh the joy !!! lol

certainly isnt easy, but nice to know there are females in this group to share menapausal/pd symptoms worries with. Ive changed my meds recently (now on stalevo 5xdaily) and pd symptoms have improved dramatically. I do think i am coming out of the menapause as i havent had any flushes/night sweats for months, last period around 2yrs ago, and horrid unwanted hair started growing, think its time to try some electrolises!

Yep, Ive waited for menapause most of my life! My Dr was great when I told him I thought I was in meapause. He sent me to a gyn to get te lining of my uterus removed, the gyn refused to do it. She didn't understand with PD comes the uncoordenation with tampons, Plus she said I was too fat, I told himwhat she said, he no longer refers patients to her. So I never had the procedure done my periods have been few and far between, I haven't had one since October! I told the nurse practicioner at my neurologist and I wasn't sure what to blame on PD and what to blame on menapause. Basically she told me blame parkinson's for everything., but, these hot flashes are definately not PD!

It was hard to seperate menapausal problems with pd. I know your body is unable at times to control its temperature with PD, but I think I am now out of the menapause, I have'nt had sweats/flushes for quite some time now, they lasted for 18 months or so, im certain they were more PD than menapausal. Hopefully yrs are too, its not nice at the time but you'll be fine once yrs come to an end, makes you feel better & one less thing to put up with x

Im 47 and had hysterectomy nine years ago, and menopausal since. I was given a estrogen(estring) from urologist this year and its helped. I do think the PD has compounded the symptoms, thus I sleep with a fan on me all night still. It is hard to tell which problem is causing what sometimes. Im glad there are other people in the same boat here to talk with. D

I was diagnosed at 51 although I had strong symptons for 3 years before. I agree with you that its difficult to work out what is PD and what is menopause as some similar symptoms.I had terribly painful periods and diagnosed fibroids was timetabled by doctor for hysterectomy which Im glad I didnt go through with. This alongside undiagnosed PD felt like a really confused and challenging time.

I noticed that when I went on HRT at 54 some symptoms subsided better skin, more able to manage weight and body shape and from that perspective I generally felt a bit more like what I was like before.

Im glad this is being raised as it is important to acknowledge womens menopause as well as PD.
