Gary,

Thank you for the poems, the art and your understsnding and capability of putting "our" fears, and pains and difficulties, into words that I cannot explain or project to my family and friends about our challenges with Parkinson's.

By the way, do you sell any of your art??? or maybe you should make a poster with some of your marvelous sayings, and sell them. "The Parky Poster Fund". Seriously, do you sell any of your works?

I am very inspired and interested............ where do you reside?? San Francisco area??

Thank you again,

hope you feel better soon and the pains go away...

your Parky friend

Hi Gary, Thanks for sharing you, insideout. I find that very hard to do, as I try to keep what I am going through with PH, both physically and emotionally, locked up inside. I totally agree with you about art, I am a fiber artist and not only is it great physical therapy, but it gives my mind a happy place to go to, it truly has saved me. I feel blessed to have a higher focus, that while I am present in my work, blocks out PD...ART trumps PD. When I ask myself that horrid question, "why me", my answer is, "it made you focus on your dream didn't it?" I am working full time and my work in fiber arts was what most would consider a hobby. I always though of myself as a serious fiber artist/designer, but with only limited time to work at my passion. Some day....I'd have enough money, enough courage, enough confidence, enough of whatever it is that you need to quit the day job and fully live your dream. Well PD. if nothing else, does put your mortality in perspective, hell it slaps you right up side the head. "Follow your dreams, do what you are passionate about and do it now." I have had PD now for 10 years, diagnoised in my early 40's, I am leaving my day job by June 1st. I know, I am thick headed, should have done it years ago, but I was living in this place called denial. I have since moved to reality, where I will live out my life passionately as a fiber artist. By the way, my animals have also saved me from falling down that dreaded "rabbit hole"...they are my best friends, I am never alone, they understand how I feel, know when I need to cuddle, always glad to see me, listen intently, make me smile and even laugh out loud, never laugh at me dancing, force me to play and love me unconditionally. Really, what more could you ask for?

GaryTorch profile image
GaryTorch in reply to Sedona

i was 'lucky' when they laid me off and i didn't have an excuse like a day job anymore. go for it, Sedona, it's now or never... 110%, all you got, no hedging your bets, the future is now.... i still bristle when someone calls this my hobby. i don't do hobbies. this is my bloodgutssoulheartmindbeingpresencelife all in one...

best to you,

Gary
