Does every Parkinson patient suffer from Masking with drooling?

Do any of you with Parkinson's also have diminished or no relexes?

I tend to have that mask and notice my saliva "drops" out when I don't expect it..(not too bad yet).....as far as reflexes.....so far no problem.

,yes my husband I don't know where all that drooling saliva mucus comes from , I know it's the poor swallow . Causes him a bother once he goes to bed for the first two hours . He cannot caught the thickened saliva up .

Any suggestions please

I have graduated into a nursing home. My first hospital bed was unusual. The head section could be lowered to an angle downward fron rest of bed, which could remain horizontal. With my head tipped slightly down, I could push phlegm to roof of mouth. Then, I would raise head portion to slight elevation, and get rid of the phlegm. Very effective.

Occasionally I realise I am drooling. It can be embarrasing can't it.

It makes me think back many years ago working with the elderly. one old lass said to another Presumably with PD. ''sithere tha's losing thi gravy hes t'a getten 'ankerchief to wipe thi gob wi' ''.

I have the masking, and decreased reflexes. More important to me is I am unable to spell and have short term memory

Yeah, that spelling thing is a bummer! I use to be a Champion Speller! Thank goodness for spell check. I have the short term memory problem too.

i live in Florida, but I was born in Canada, you should go to the Canadian PD web site and see how they treat PD very interesting.

No, mine hits me more below the waist. Frozen ankle and visceral off. When I'm really off, I can barely put 3 words together. Or hold a cup. But usually just foot dragging, but #2 is my #1 problem :P sorry. In all my PD exercise classes, they address these issues, having us make faces and vocalize in different fun ways.

Masking and loss reflexes, and numbness in face are a problem for me. Sometimes I have excess saliva, but not drooling; however, I don’t drink a lot of fluids. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Hi! My husband suffers from both. He gets botox injections in/near his jaw line every 4 months for the past three years. It really “dries” him up. Good luck.
