What do you think about Azilect. Is it b... - Cure Parkinson's
What do you think about Azilect. Is it beneficial ?
I have taken 1 & 1/2 tablets of Azilect for quiet awhile now! Probabaly a year or more. It's suppose to help slow down the progression of PD! I don't know if it's helping or not? But I trust my Neurologist! And I have had the DBS surgery on one side of my brain! I have not noticed any side effects from it that I know of! This really isn't much of an answer to your question, sorry! Talk with your Doctor and research it online!
Blessings,
Carol
I started taking it in 02 before it was FDA approved. Stopped 18 months ago because of hypotension which slowly improved afterwards. I suspect it was helpful due to my slow decline during that time. However it is difficult to be certain... the only real control research would be a clone of me living the same life over the same time without it. The main dilemma for all research.
I took as a test ordered by my neuro -it made me nauseous and dizzy. Gave up after a few weeks.
it gave me dyskinesia after one week. Stopped taking it.
We all resact so different, I have been on Azilect for over a year, no hypertnsion, in fact my BP is a an all time low 94/54, and my days seem so much more even. I hink it has helped a great deal. I heve been tested for high BP long before dx with PD.
It really helped me----I could feel an improvement in my walking ability and balance within 2 hours of my first dose.. I have been taking Azilect for over 5 years now and experienced no adverse effects. Just proves that we are all all unique.
i was willing to try but did not titrate meaning I took along with regular dose of sinimet. So I had out of control dyskinesia. Had to stop
Please also see my comment on tremors. I have taken Azilect for 2 yrs. I went from uncontrollable tremor, could not stand without falling to being able to walk, talk and an almost unseen tremor about 90% of the time.
It may not work for everyone, I gave it a few months. I did have blood pressure issues before taking it and had to do BP medication adjustments several times to get it right. Though the tremors, etc. were better in about a week.
I know it is not a longterm answer, but has improved my quality of life for now.
I am taking Azilect along with Amantadine and the Neupro patch. Good combo for me. Like most of you whatever we are taking, I am grateful for the improvements in my life because of the care from my Dr,. In the past I took Mirapex, did not like side affects.
