Are any suffering with seborrheic dermatitis? If so, do you have any tips to pass along to control it?

I bought an almond oil based moisturizer that has eliminated my husband's flaking on his nose bridge and forehead. He also uses a dandruff shampoo to wash his head even though he is nearly bald.

My husband has terrible skin - arms legs forehead and back. I have tried so many different potions and creams etc but we fear that it is another part of parkinsons. Will be interested if you hear of anything that works. Joan

I use Ketoconazole shampoo twice a week to control the scalp and cortisone cream for the face which I have been told by GP is the only thing that they can give to take the redness/soreness/burning away. even that now after many years using it dosen't work as it did.

I think all you can do it keep the skin as moist as possible in between attacks.

If it's not one thing it's another.

After many may years of skin problems , I listened to the Gp when he told me to try Head and shoulders shampoo for my husband . I thought it would be too strong but it isn't . I do his ears and eyebrows at the same time and just let it run anywhere . It does help

As for the face cleanse at least twice a day you can make a solution of Baby oil /almond oil and baby shampoo anything similar ., include the eyelashes also .

It doesn't cure it but keeps it at bay .

Although they advise you not to use Betnovate on the face I OCCASIONALLY do . Just a little across the forehead or on any spots.

Just a matter of using your common sense

Since doing this I have found his ears are not as itchy , make sure you keep them dry , i use a cotton tip around the nooks and cranny's

I found that my dandruff getting worse seemed to coincide with the PD getting worse. Strangely starting on Pramipexole (Mirapexin) seemed to clear the dandruff.

Yeah, I have it on my face and minimally on my scalp. Actually I don't do much about it other than rinse my face with water and blot dry my face. The flakiness doesn't show much after my lame approach. Call it laziness on my part or pure neglect of my dermatological care for not seeking professional help but for me it's not an profound issue to go ahead and spend more money out of my already tight financial budget to make my skin look like normal healthy again. This is just my own opinion. I am sure many others will have a different approach to this.

Have not had this illness confirmed, but am positive this is what I have. Intense flaking on my scalp, round the sides on my nose and forehead and now inside my ears! Have tried various shampoos and creams but not very good results. Has anyone had success with change of diet??

Hi, In my experience you really need to treat the cause, not just the symptoms as SD is a fungus.

Coconut oil and oregano oils are natural anti fungals and really effective. Steer away from Cortisone creams and Dandruff shampoos etc as they worsen or will perpetuate the problem.

I found that my seborrheic dermatitis almost completely goes away when I change my diet to exclude too much sugary foods (it doesn't matter if it's natural or not) and corn. I've recently gone off wheat (which turns to sugar fairly quickly in the body). Sugar feeds the fungus that causes my SD. I have suffered from candidiasis and went on an elimination diet to find out what was causing my problems. While eating mainly vegetables and lean meats for about 2 months my SD went away. I have occasional flare-ups when I eat a lot of sweets. At one point in time my body couldn't fight the candida because my dentist gave me antibiotics. I had to take fluconazole to clear up that problem. Now, I control it with diet.
