Have you met someone with PD

Some need to do this straight away, others dont do it for years, the internet fills a gap,you can ask question without having contact with people. For me both have been a positive experience, but it was several years before ,I went out with deliberation to meet a fellow sufferer

Stayed away at first. Now some people I know and have met with PD are my best friends. Just come back from being with PWP for a few days. A's video possibly nightmare viewing but does not mean any of us will get to that stage so don't be afraid to check it out

Yes, my cousin had Parkinsons for nearly 20 years and I was with her from the beginning. However, I sometimes wish I had contact with another person with Parkinsons. I have seen it at its worst so would not be worried, but would love to meet someone about my age and stage. I know an awful lot of people do not get as bad as my cousin and hopefully I will be one of these. Our symptoms were quite different.

Yes have passed on details to many of our friends, but not sure yet whether they have taken up the opportunity. I use it and it is my husband who suffers with PD but not keen, we are all different. but he is always interested in what I tell him is going on.

Never! but have been talking to someone on skype from this site. I think Im afraid to met smeone wh is far wore than me and become discouraged. I would like to meet someone whos at my stage to share experiences and someone who has managed to keep it at a standstill for some tips!

Have I met someone with PD - heaps of people!

As soon as i was diagnosed I wanted to meet others and the internet was a wonderful resource. In the four years since diagnosis I have been to 6 weekend get togethers with people who I've met on forums. There have been 40 - 80 of us at each occasion including partners. I have learned so much from meeting up and made very special friendships. The down side is I find it hard to stop chatting on line to all these lovely people.

Before Facebook and this site, I was taking classes for pwp's with other pwp's. We've gradually gotten to know each other and it's GREAT! Same organization has Sunday seminars with lunch and workshops. At first my daughters went with me and at first were very depressed at what they heard and saw. Then they were all OK with it. Then my younger daughter heard from her good friend whose dad had died from PD and she said it was horrible. This shook her up and she said, "I don't want you to die" I said my mom is 93, I'll probably die of something else, but who can know? Now she wants to take a break. Who takes a break from their mom? Thank goodness for my parkie friends and my friends in faith and recovery!
