I am 66 years of age today. The UK government informed me 12 months ago that I am an "Old Age Pensioner" (I prefer Senior Citizen).
13 years ago when I was diagnosed with PD I did not think that I would survive to become an OAP/SC. Well, I can put that myth to bed. I am looking forward to many more years of living with a quality of life that I would pefer. They say you are only as old as the woman you feel. So, I invite you to celebrate this happy occassion. Thanks to AndyC for reminding everyone. A good guy. Thanks for the good birthday wishes that you all sent. Next Friday our village Church re-opens having been shut for 4 months during a £150,000 refit so a double celebration this week.
Post script. It is not intention to belittle what happened in Japan and I hope I have not offended anyone with my remarks. For the record I think it was an appalling disaster and my good wishes are sent to everyone who has lost a loved one in Japan.
I don't want to finish on a sombre note so charge your glasses and have a singalong and a boogie with a glass of your preference. Mine is a good Rioja with grenash grape which is just by my elbow!.

My son completed the silverstone 1/2 marathon in 2 hrs 44! I am so proud and quite emotional. I gave birth to my son, nurtured and watched him grow and then today watched him cross the finish line raising in excess of £1800 towards a cure for us!! I need a drink - and a dance if anyone is still around x
I am new to the site, but am very "encouraged" to read that you're celebrating your birthday....especially since you were diagnosed with PD over 13 years ago. You are an inspiration to us all!

CJ49, Thank you. I hope you enjoy the site and increase your knowledge of PD over time. We are all here to help if we can. After all,we are all in the same boat just the depth of water varies. As you will have seen we have a bit of fun now and again which is good for all. Doom and gloom is an option we can all do without although the odd rant helps to let off steam sometimes.
tlongmire, HI and thank you. Just getting up - 6.00 am here - a new day dawns. It is our younger dog's 2nd birthday today 13th March. He name is Missy and she is a "Westie" (West Highland White Terrier,snow white fur with black skin). Scottish breed. They tend to bark - a lot!
Drew, better late than never I hope - think of it this way: you can now officially become a 'grumpy old git'. You can express yourself in ways yet to be discovered on topics about which you may know nothing & even risk being non-PC. The world is your oyster!! Enjoy.
Non PC is my middle name. In respect of my age I agree with honeycombe3 in that I DO express my opinion on all sorts of things just to get a laugh even if it at my expense. Our local MP is coming to our village for a question time in about a fortnight - can't wait!!! Have already e-mailed him about the lousy broadband speeds and other subjects. He won't know me when I arrive but he sure will know me when I leave. LOL, Independance for Scotland? Don't get me started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
