Thieves Oil for coronavirus

Not exactly a Parkinsons problem but there have been other posts on how we can protect ourselves against the virus, so I'm posting this here for your interest. Thieves oil gets its name from the days of the Bubonic Plague when thieves entered the homes of the dead to rob them. They didn't catch the plague because they protected themselves with 'thieves oil', a mix of five essential oils. See the recipe on -healthline.com/health/thiev...

I made up a mix in a brown bottle, and I put six drops of the mix into water on an oil burner to purify the house and I have it on a hanky stuffed in a scarf to protect me if I'm going out into crowds. If I develop the virus I will add six drops of the mix to my bath. The article has more ideas.

I've just checked on Amazon and you can buy it ready mixed.

I shall just add that tea tree oil, although not in the thieves oil mix, is also very antiviral

Plus aloe vera and a bit of alcohol.

I buy thieves oil through Young Living. Been using it and other oils for over 4 years and I have not had even a cold in this time frame. I have RA so my immune system is compromised. I work hard to stay healthy.

Yeh! It sounds as if it works. How do you use it?

I diffuse it, apply to the soles of my feet and use Thieves Household Cleaner to clean my entire home. I got rid of all chemical cleaners.

The cleaner is currently £50 on Amazon.co.uk! What!!

The cleaner is a concentrate. You only use a tsp to a tablespoon diluted in water . A bottle lasts a long time. I didn't know Young Living sold on Amazon. I buy direct from the company. Youngliving.com

You will not stop a virus with “snake oil”

The ‘snake oil’ as you call it has been researched thoroughly.

Can you point us to the thorough research?

These are just a very few examples of research papers and articles about the oils in the thieves oil mix -cinnamon, eucalyptus, lemon, Rosemary and cloves. Oils have a stronger effect when working in synergy. The thieves oil recipe varies while still involving the same basic ingredients but in varying proportions. It wouldn't be possible or necessary to test the mix when there is much information on individual oils.

Hmmm not very convincing, fox news, a couple of reviews and a wordy essay on chemical composition of essential oils in general and a 1996 article. . I had hoped for something more substantial specifically about thieves oil mix.

You write: "It wouldnt be possible or necessary to test the mix when there is much information on individual oils." But surely if there is a synergistic effect that is worth testing, what ratios work the best etc. But big pharma stops this I guess. I dont know why we think this given essential oils size. The market size is projected to reach USD 11.19 Billion by 2022,

Sure many essential oils have antibiotic effects but I am not going to trust thieves oil to save me from this pandemic? It might make my house smell nice though, pity i cant smell!

You might not trust thieves oil to save you from this pandemic, as you say, and that's fine with me, but we have few if any alternatives. For me washing my hands, upping my vitamin C intake, avoiding crowds and using thieves oil are all 'sensible precautions'.
