Stress exercising

I wrote about it earlier but I taught it is worth to open a thread. Everyone is talking about physical exercising but what about stress exercising? In my opinion the most important symptom is the reduced resistance to stress. That amplifies all the other symptoms. When I'm fully relaxed the tremor goes down, when I'm stressed the tremor goes high. For a while I avoided any confrontation or stressful situation. But I decided to educate myself to control the stress.

I went to a job interview - even I was not interested still I got stressed out so I finished shaking; I left and after 30 minutes everything calmed down and no shake.

I started to argue with people about politics or other issues - I noticed that after few sessions of induced stress my resistance improved. After the sessions the tremor goes away completely and during the arguments I'm shaking less than before. So I started to do again things I stopped doing because I was afraid not to get stressed.

I think PD can be kept under control with good psychological attitude.

I'm curios if anybody else noticed all of these.

Yes, stress definitely bothers PD. I went through a lot of stress last year & my symptoms got worse. I retired 6 yrs ago & my symptoms improved. My symptoms first came out 17 yrs ago when I was going through a divorce. Stress is difficult to eliminate. Vacations even stress me out more than they used to, trying to plan, getting things ready, eating different foods, to the airport, etc...

When I face now a stressful situation, I smile and repeat a couple of times to myself: "Shaking or not, you should inevitably go through this..!!" And the tremor somehow subsides more or less.. When I started doing this it was less. Recently case after case, it subsides more and more.. .:) By the way, I noticed that Thiamine helps me to reduce the feeling of stress..

Yes I don't feel stress anywhere near as much now I'm on B1, unless the dose is too high that is!

I totally agree, I have similar experiences and don't know what to do about it as I work full time and stress periods every day.... I can't quit my job just to get away from stress?

This maybe a dumb question but what is 'stress exercise'? I know loads about different types of physical exercise - but about stress exercise I know nothing. I do yoga, meditate, pilates, cycling etc but these are techniques for dealing with the aftermath of stress. I'm intrigued!

To put yourself in a stressful situation and learn how to handle it. If you keep avoiding it because you are afraid of it you'll get more sensitive to it.

For me, as a psychomotor therapist, stress exercises is about getting to know your response to different situations. These are personal even though there are some similar situations that trigger stress reactions like tremor for pwp, ie job seeking.

When you expose yourself to a stressful situation some times it often becomes less stressful like in the given example (cbt).

When you learn to talk to yourself and calm yourself down, maybe by breathing deeply, you can lower the stress effects.

If you generally take control in your life,

you can avoid some stressful situations. Relaxation techniques are good help. Mental training too.

Yes, sometimes you have to work less to be more relaxed.

If you are physically strong you often are more confident and better at handling stress.

Taking thiamine I have less tremor too.

After ten days of vacation I have more difficulties handling my PD. Longing to get home...

Yes! Stress definitely aggravates my symptoms! Doctor told me the number one med is exercise. What works for me is ballet on youtube. My ballet support bar is my old walker. Of course this form of exercise is not everyones cup of tea. it can be very helpful to find out what works for you with stress relief. Wish you all the best.⚘

Interesting observation, thanks for sharing. I want to experiment with this too, instead of avoidance, using stress as a tool or exercise.
