Vitamin B1 (Thiamine HCl) and Parkinson's

There is no doubt in my mind that this site has the most complete and thorough description, use and support for HDT. I have gone back and read many of the various lines of discussion, here and on Facebook, and I must say, I am very impressed.

Based on the advice through HealthUnlocked, I bought the VitaCost 500 mg capsules of Thiamine HCl. I started with a taper of 1 gm/day and then got to 4 gm/day in a week; then I realized my tremor was shaking like a leaf on a tree; I tapered down and stopped for a week or so. I tried again, and this time started at 500 mg/day and went to 2 gm/day; the same reaction of my tremor, stopped, waited a couple of weeks or more and started again. Started again with just 500 mg/day, same reaction. This time, I had bought 100 mg capsules of vitamin B1 (thiamine HCl). I have now gone back and forth several times over several months and it would appear that 100 mg B1/day is my suggested dose, because even at 200 mg/day B1, my tremor gets very active. What have I learned? Reading the detailed reports here made a difference, thank you. Why I can't take more is not clear; however, it's not something I'm going to worry about. Thanks for all the posts and detailed explanations.

Furthermore, I have found that adding 2000 mg/ day of magnesium threonate has helped a lot with the tremor as well. And I may have even gotten the lead about Mg-threonate here as well, thanks. I have settled on two suppliers: Double Wood Supplements Magnesium L Threonate Capsules (Magtein) – High Absorption Supplement – Bioavailable Form – 2,000 mg – 100 Capsules from Amazon.com <amzn.to/36Fpg55> and Vitacost Magtein™ Magnesium L-Threonate -- 2010 mg per serving - 90 Capsules <bit.ly/2S0U3Uz>

Hi ! I too am immensely grateful to all those wonderful posters who have spent hours researching, and writing for us. I've been on this site for about 3 yrs, and find every bit helps. Take your post for instance...I'm going to increase my magnesium on days my tremor increases. You might want to add tremor to your title since there are tons of people on this site looking for tremor relief.

Thank you so very much for sharing your findings. The trigger finger is my husband's main symptom yet. I think we need to keep experimenting with the dose and I hadn't considered that!

I agree that Mg L-thre helps.. especially when I combine its increased intake with fasting during the bad days..

I agree. This is the most helpful site and we all learn a lot by sharing information. I also don't need as much B1 as others on this site either. Happy it's all working for you. 😊

Thanks for sharing this information. After alot of hit and trial, I have found that 200 mg a day of B1 is the right dose for me.

Regarding magnesium, I have found it to be better remedy for stiffness and tremors than pharmaceuticals. I mean magnesium fits better on me than ldopa

Thanks PD-Golfer for sharing. Does 100mg B1 help your symptoms?

And your brand 2000mg Magnesium Threonate equals to Life Extension's brand 3 capsules?

Does anyone know how much magnesium should we take and where should we look at for mg? because they have 2 types of mg for the same capsume/tablet eg Elemental and I don't know which one to count from. eg.

Henry Blooms Tri-Mag Citrate 900mg but elemental Mag 139.05mg,

then there is Swiss Mag Citrate 927.64mg 150mg.

Thanks

Any changes?
