requip being cancelled!!!

i just read that requip/ropinirole is being withdrawn in the u.s. in different dosages starting this month. dosages starting at 4 mg/6 mg./12 mg. extended release will still be available. it appears that some generics will also be available. my husband and i have been reading and reading the article with no clear explanation. if this has been discussed please forgive me. does anyone have suggestions what to take instead of ropinirole. i went through hell trying to take carb/lev. tons of side effects along with losing 15+ pounds over a couple months. i can't go back to that. i had taken requip years ago when had restless legs with almost no side effects. was/is working ok. i also have fibromyalgia and a ton of other health issues so finding meds that 'get along' isn't easy. hoping for some of your brilliant suggestions. many thanks, les

I'm taking a generic requip, 1mg three times a day, phamracy has not mentioned any problem with avaiability, but thank you for he heads up...

Didn't see anything lately but mfr put this out about this time last year:

NeurologyLive reached out to GlaxoSmithKline for comment, and a spokesperson said that "this was a business decision based on low and declining patient demand due to [the] availability of numerous generic ropinirole alternatives. Patients should speak to their physician about an appropriate alternative if they are taking Requip IR or XL. This decision was made independently of any [GlaxoSmithKline] development programs."

Evidently they must have delayed the cancellation for some reason, it was to be gone by last May or so. ???

This is getting distressing.we gave just heard that madapor may be in very short supply soon too.have just got used to madapor after being forced to change from sinemet due to it out of stock all of last year and still I think now here in NZ.Sorry I can't suggest anything other than trying mucuna ,CBD.vit b1
