“We believe that the new synthetic [lab-made] virus we succeeded in creating would be very well suited for gene therapy for Parkinson’s disease, for example, and we have high hopes that these virus vectors will be able to be put into clinical use,” Tomas Björklund, PhD, Lund University, Sweden, said in a press release.

Thanks, Winnie. Even though time is not on our side, there are many reasons why I remain cautiously optimistic. I'm about to enter my fitness club to exercise intensely. It's one thing we can do right now to slow progression and I'm grateful that I can still do it with relative ease and frequency. Here's to 2020 and to more progress in our individual and collective attempts to live happy, healthy lives!

Yes. When you have this disease, tomorrow is at least one day too late for therapies to arrive . My goal is to slow it long enough to manage OK until it is stopped, and then reversed by gdnf, stem cells whatever. I figure I've got to hold out for at least 10 years before those remedies are available. If they're not, things like FUS may help a lot. Meantime I have a few strategies, including exercise.

The next big date for me is 8 February when I get the first "year 2" infusion on the SPARK trial (it will definitely be 1250 or 3500mg, not 250 or placebo)

I'm holding out at least until then before switching Tamulosin to Terazosin, starting B1, or chasing up the results of faecal transplant trials.

Enjoy your workout!

Thanks! We were both diagnosed at about the same time and are about the same age with the same philosophy and outlook. I hope/think we can hold things together until there's a major breakthrough. Best wishes regarding the SPARK trial. Thank you for participating in it.
