Aching muscles and riding a horse?

I don't see a neurologist until the end of October, but it has been suggested that I have PD.

Do any of you ride a horse and if so have you had trouble with aching muscles (my thighs are agony when riding). If so did the pain go once you were treated with Ldopa?

I used to ache after riding a horse but that was decades before getting PD

I spent a couple years with doctors x-raying and sending me to physical therapy etc. trying to find out why I had so much pain in my legs. Although I wasn’t horseback riding at the time I grew up riding and I would imagine it could be very painful if leg pain is one of your early symptoms. I found even walking to my car In the morning difficult.

When I was finally diagnosed and started taking the carbidopa levodopa my leg pain was resolved. I walk several miles at a time now.

Riding is wonderful, I hope this gets resolved for you!

I had awful leg pain while driving prior to being diagnosed. I’d move and squirm to try and get relief, and thought I needed looser trousers! Totally fixed with madapor.

Hope that diagnosis was based on more than sore muscles from riding. In the meantime, I would take electrolytes (PureCaps) and some trace minerals. Also get potassium and magnesium levels taken ( Life Extension if your doc won’t order them). I would assume the pain comes from inflammation and use some anit-inflammatory products like curcumin as in Inflammablox (Orthomolecular Products)..never Advil or somesuch, although a disevor two to test if it’s inflammation wouldn’t hurt...I just wouldn’t take that ongoing. The best? CBD gel combined with drops under the tongue. I use NaturesScript...excellent.

Thank you all for your advice, experiences and support. I think I am not helped by the fact that I have never suffered from aching muscles after riding after a long break, so it is all totally alien to me and comes as a shock.

I can but hope it is an imbalance of mineral levels rather than suffering from PD, being hypo or senility! Time will tell, I must keep trying. Huge thanks again.
