Neupro Patch

Hello everibody, ciao from sunny Italy , I wanted to try Neupro Patch .Almost 6 months ago I stopped pramipexole becouse it made me feel worse. Than my neuro suggested me to try Neupro patch at 4mg/24hr. At the moment I'm on Azilect alone, but If I could ease the tension on my left harm that would be great..... How long before any effect shown ? some experience ? is it worth ? ( not economically speaking becouse in Italy all the PK meds are almost free). Thank you.

Luca.

Dad had the patches in hospital following his bowel resection because he was on a drip and couldnt absorb oral drugs. Worked well - effect is pretty much immediate, and in his case (mobility , balance issues) has the benefit of working at night too.

Why not use carbidopa levodopa? Some people do okay on dopamine agonists such as neupro, others experience devastating adverse effects.

Ciao Lucal,

I'm from Italy too. I use Neupro since 2016 I've started with the 2mg patch and gradually get the 4mg patch. Now I'm at 6mg since 2 years and does well for me. Initial sympthoms are a bit of Nausea and stomach cramps then but they go away in a couple of days. Considering that when I've started I was without any medication since the diagnosis (3 years before) I felt a great improvement and still works. I've got, since a few months a slight edema in the left foot and my Neuro is considering cutting down to 4mg also because I'm doing pretty good with B1.

I have been on Neupro patch for about 2 years. I agree with titrating up. My doc started with 1 mg and then 2 mg and so on, as I also had over tiredness and nausea from previous dopamine agonist. I've been up to 6 mg but feel better on 4 mg. I use in conjunction with Azilect and Rytary. Supposedly helps smooth out dopamine delivery.

Ciao, Luca, I tried Neupro patch in the evening, but I stopped it because don't worked to me.v It must also be attached to the skin every day at a different point, otherwise the bruises remain. Since the attachment points are limited, after a few days you no longer know where to put it. I do not recommend it.

How many MG? the 4 mg patch is maybe 2 inches by 2 inches; 6 mg slightly larger. You are supposed to alternate spots applied, not repeating a spot for 14 days. I generally do my upper thighs, stomach skin is too sensitive and leaves red patches. I wear short sleeves and sleeveless shirts in summer, so don't apply to upper arms. Found thighs, front and sides, work best and have no trouble. Everyone's experience differs.

Hard to answer that. I did find at higher doses I felt slower, my legs heavy when I walked. Did you start at 4 mg or titrate up to that?

I started 2 mg last week and rised to 4mg two days ago. But I feel exactly as you are stating , slower and with heavy legs. I'd like to give up but wanted to know if it's going to be better with some patience....

Again hard to say. 4 mg is considered, I think, the lowest dose for Parkinson's. But maybe 2 mg does something? I don't know. I experienced those effects at 6 mg or maybe 8 mg. Can't recall. It's been a while now. I'm interested in how this works or not for you. Keep me posted.

I settled in a 4 mg and have been at this dosage for about a year now. I was going back and forth from 4 to 6 mg and my doctor said the body likes consistency. He also said it can take a few weeks for it to adjust.
