Glyphosate is the "active" ingredient in Roundup. It is toxic to neurotransmitters. This includes dopamine.
The present findings indicate that glyphosate significantly altered central nervous system (CNS) monoaminergic neurotransmitters in a brain regional- and dose-related manner, effects that may contribute to the overall spectrum of neurotoxicity caused by this herbicide.
Seems an important finding.
Just as some folks who used RoundUp and developed cancer sued Monsanto, PwP who used RoundUp and developed PD might consider filing a suit against Monsanto.
I'm told the science isn't there yet on Roundup's neurotoxicity. It's starting to appear, worth watching.
These are extremely heavy exposures compared to observed glyphosate contamination in food. This does *not* make observed glyphosate contamination innocent, but a study like this can only be suggestive of what might ensue from much longer term and much lower exposure.
It only takes one negligent aerosolized inhalation exposure. You never know when you will be the innocent bystander.
And, the toxic effects are cumulative. Risk is a function of genetics and environment. Genes load the gun and environment pulls the trigger.
Glyphosate has been shown to be an endocrine disruptor at environmentally relevant levels.
Our body is a system. If the chemicals can disrupt endocrine hormones they can disrupt neurotransmitters. One regulates the other.
The risk cannot adequately be calculated. The flaw in our regulatory system is that it attempts to model the legal system - innocent until proven guilty.
The precautionary principle has been discarded. That doesn't mean we can't exercise our choice to act cautiously. I call this voting with your wallet. This is the most effective way to influence change. Don't buy their $#!* and they will not continue to make it.
