Homeopathy, herbal treatments, Ayurvedic treatments…
Do you use any complementary therapies to treat your Parkinson’s symptoms?
Are you a doctor who is interested in alternative therapies?
We’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Jennifer, I think there are a few doctors on this forum and while there is a lot of sharing of our experiences with pharmaceuticals, most of this forum, at least for me, the very purpose of this forum is to share research and experience with alternative and complementary therapies.
While I've got your attention, I'd like to raise an important consideration for those of you who run this website and that is create the ability for users to have "read only" capability.
For example, there is a thread here which is dedicated to consolidating all the information about thiamine, which is the most beneficial therapy/supplement any of us know of. It is truly changing people's lives for the better. It is critically important that everybody know about it.
We have one forum participant (easilly) who has volunteered an enormous amount of time cutting and pasting posts, i.e., moving posts to that one thread.
In other words, we can post all-inclusive information about one subject, but anyone who comes on after that post may never learn about.
In this vein, another option would be to allow us to have a banner where it now I ask "how did this post make you feel?" directing people to the specific threads by issue.
If I'm not clear, please ask/send me or easilly questions in the chat format.
Please, please raise this with the powers that be.
Thank you.
Marc
Hi Marc!
Your suggestions are definitely worth putting forward to the HU team. I am a user of the site as you are, so I believe this link is the best place for you to raise them: support.healthunlocked.com/...
Good luck and thanks,
Jennifer
Thanks for this question. I'm not a doctor, I'm a retired research chemist, now doing research on herbal remedies. My latest post deals with the most actve of foods in relation to drug protection, grapefruit. It has a great potential to improve the bioavailabilty of L-dopa for Parkinsons, but is also the most contested by the pharmaceutical industry. My post takes you to a long and highly technical published article dealing with L-dopa metabolism.
The HU post is here.
