Hi there. Anyone, anybody with PD insomnia, please help,if you have tried medical marijuana for sleep or anxiety. If so ,what strain did you try?Did you try CBD oil or THC?What is the usual dose for sleeping?I have read articles online that says, moderate use,is best to avoid side effects. Please help.I have been struggling with sleep issues,I have tried melatonin, which helps a little. Also,I have been on benzos, but I want to stop using addictive sleeping aides.Hope to contact my MD and discuss this as well. Thanks for your reply.

This subject has been covered quite a few times on this forum just this year. Have you tried a search using the search bar function at the top right of the page? Some of those conversations were pretty useful and might be worth trying to search for.

Got you,got you.Thanks.

I just tried a search and I must be choosing the wrong search words because not much comes up.

My personal experience is that MM is highly effective as a sleep aid for me about 90% of the time. I use a relatively high THC low CBD content strain and I only use indica for sleep. Sativa tended to wake me up and get me thinking, exactly what I don't want when trying to get to sleep, but definitely more useful during my waking hours when a little creativity may be more useful. My second most popular sleep aid is melatonin when I use it a certain way. If I just take a melatonin capsule at some point before bed, it does little if anything to put me to sleep, but if I use the 123 method, it puts me to sleep more often than not. Some people may not be able to tolerate melatonin so you should always seek your doctor's approval and supervision before experimenting with melatonin or medical marijuana.

As an example, let's say I want to go to sleep about 11 pm. I take one melatonin capsule at 9 pm, one capsule at 10 pm and one capsule at 11 pm. By 10:45, I am usually yawning and very ready to go to bed. If I take all three capsules at once, say an hour before bed, it does not work. I think the reason it may work using that 123 method is because it is more like natural melatonin production where your body interprets the declining day light and recognizes that night is coming and starts to produce melatonin in our system. I think the 123 method seems to mimic the natural production process which should lead to a melatonin spike around 1:00 in the morning. That's my best guess anyway, but MM is the clear winner over all other sleep aids I have tried, melatonin is a close second.

Other things you can do to try and improve sleep in a more natural way is to make sure you are exposed to bright sunlight earlier in the day and when you go to bed, where a pair of soft fabric sleeping glasses that block out light completely to help your body understand that it is night time and time to sleep. The fabric glasses may help to improve natural melatonin production. Lastly, avoid tv and computer monitor exposure three hours before bed time because those bright lights can potentially trick your body into thinking that it is still day time. Here is a link to a study from February, 2019 that tends to confirm the idea of using cannabis vape as a sleep aid.

I do NOT have PD. My son was thought to have PD, that's how I came to this site. I am currently 78 years old, female.

I am a HUGE follower of SILVESTROV and greatly appreciative of all his help to me and to my son. He did a post titled MY LIST OF DAILY SUPPLEMENTS ( posted over a year ago).

Just before bedtime he takes (among other supplements) 200mg L-theanine, 250 mg baicalin, 400mg Full Spectrum Skullcap, 500 mg magnesium threonate.

I had a difficult time sleeping after my son died. I decided to take the Skullcap, and the baicalin (LiftMode). I was already taking the magnesium threonate. It made a world of difference. I sleep between 7-8 hours each night...waking up to use the bathroom at least twice each night. I take those supplements about 30 minutes before going to bed.

I would write THE TITLE of his post on the SEARCH BAR, and see what he takes and why. He is like Easilly (which I appreciate) in that he always backs his suggestions with research.

i use medical marijuana, although that is it's own joke, since i live in one of the few remaining states that doesn't have mm officially. which means i have to go on the black market to get it! it helps me sleep for longer periods without waking up. it works and i love it. now just wish we would get in line with the rest of the country.
