start thiamine high dosage, please i need advice

hi everyone, I need advice. I would like to try high-dose vitamin B1 to my mum who have recently diagnosed lewy body dementia. Now without the doctor's directions will be very difficult and I would like your advice on how to start the treatment because I read that before finding the correct dose could take time and she could go against temporary worsening. The problem is that, despite trying to explain to her all that many here have written about the treatment with vitamin B1, she is very reticent to try any new treatment. So if she gets worse even if only temporarily, she will want to stop the treatment and it would be a real shame. Dr. Costantini told us to give her two injections of 100 mg of thiamine for the first month and that the injections were better than the pads especially at the beginning for important indications. Now without his guidance it becomes all the more difficult and I am afraid to throw away this chance of caring for my mother's reticence.

Hi. I just want to validate that it can be difficult to be difficult to be a caretaker, and that your concerns are understandable.

But I would give B1 therapy a try anyway.

I am not a doctor and I'm only a month in to trying B1 myself. And it is clear that B1 therapy does often require some trial and error. So there isn't a perfect suggestion I can give you.

You could perhaps proceed with the amount indicated for injections, if you can go that route. Or you can try the tablets and try to come in at a relatively lower dose and raise as needed, as opposed to starting high and lowering.

Solgar 500mg. Other brands have 100mg pills. Be sure to use Thiamine HCL.

I am not sure about improvement. I didn't think so, but my qigong teacher said he thought I was doing better in the past month. So maybe! :-)

I started. Y checking with my doc that even if it did no good I wanted to make sure it would do me no harm. She said it,was fine to go ahead. Dr C says it does not interfere with the pd medication I have been on 2000mg for six months, and it was the best thing I have ever done. I personally would start with 1000mg in two doses, am and lunchtimehowever, you have to make your own decision , I am not a medic. Good luck x

dangilio,

For the majority of people who have reported back on this forum, a temporary worsening of symptoms was inevitable, so if your mom is not willing to take that risk, HDT may not be for her. Every prescription med for PD comes with a greater potential for side effects and HDT is no different in that respect except it does have a very good safety profile and potential for other health benefits. It may be time for you to sit down with your mom and have a heart to heart conversation with her about this.

On the positive side, there is a small group of forum members who started to see benefit in the first week! There is also a small group of members who hit the right dose on their first attempt! Under the circumstances, what if your mom falls into one of those two groups? Or what if she falls into a smaller group of members who started seeing results from the first day? There is another small group of members who did not get any benefit from B-1 / HDT and that is a real possibility to consider.

If your ask anyone who has benefited from HDT / B-1, they almost always will tell you that they are very glad that they did test it and would now not be without it!

Ultimately, it is your mother's choice and you can not make someone do something they don't want to do, but there are a couple of pages you can show your mom that may help her decide and I will link to them below. One thing to consider is that any worsening of symptoms due to too high of a dose is only temporary.

Also, if you click on my icon, you can see other post I have written that are related to the usage of HDT.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi Art, If I go to Facebook page on this, can everybody who are "friends" to me on Facebook see it? I don't want some people to see it. Thanks

I'm no longer on FB, so you may be better off asking someone who knows . FB is no longer for me!
