DBS is hardly a miracle. Several hours of brain surgery and the possibility of serious side effects.

to some extent yes. But for those whose symptoms especially tremors make life impossible, it's a miracle

Technological advances have made it quite a safe procedure nowadays

I’m in a DBS group and there are lots of people who have trouble with speech, balance and walking afterwards.

Don't know whether the skill of surgeon makes a difference or it varies from individual to individual

Thanks for sharing that. MDs tend to omit any warning about treatment downsides.

I just think if he had taken B1 and/or Mannitol earlier he would never have gotten to that state that required DBS

really! Are you getting some benefit from these?

alexask in reply to Farooqji

Haven't really noticed an effect with B1. Just 3 grams of Mannitol in coffee and exercise are enough for me.

How long have you had Parkinson’s Alex?

alexask in reply to Trixiedee

Have had symptoms for 2 years, but mostly resolved by Mannitol. Haven't had a formal diagnosis - see my profile.. But if you have a look at alaynedellow and others on here who also benefitted. I only take about 3 grams in coffee in the morning.

Other than syncolein, what options are there for mannitol purchase and consumption? Any specific variant or suggestions on what to order?

Curious: this man had a different apparatus? Anyone know what it was called? Perhaps not invasive as DBS?

Trixiedee profile image
Trixiedee in reply to AmyLindy

It’s DBS.

AmyLindy in reply to Trixiedee

But why the harness? Is this an older video and DBS model? I thought the DBS didn’t require apparatus that is quite that bulky or visible? Maybe this is an initial sizing/testing phase?

I think it’s to recharge the battery.
