Datscan for John Pepper

You could also create a new thread like this one, and direct people to it from brief posts on other thread.

This is my DATscan from Toulouse hospital 16 May 2018. Neck and spinal column at the bottom of the picture - so looking at me from behind (above and behind)

I'll translate from the french for you

"Scintigraphic examination confirms a net depletion of of the presynaptic dopamine receptors, in a bilateral manner but more noticeable on the right. This picture is characteristic of Parkinsons Disease"

Why for JP?

On another thread where I objected to the length of a JP post he asked how he could refer to another profile or thread and I explained. This was an empty thread created for that sole purpose. I had also suggested that a datscan was a less drastic means of evidencing pd than an autopsy

Thanks for the explanation. I was quite annoyed with that painfully long reply he posted (on more than one thread). He does have a talent for hijacking a thread.

“Why for JP?” Because In the Land of Rhyme and Reason, a DaTscan (or other certified diagnosis) would be an essential prerequisite PRIOR to authoring a book claiming a miraculous formula to "Reverse Parkinson's Disease". And certainly - before spending the bulk of one's time spamming, trolling, and evangelizing such exaggerated claims (claims universally contrary to both empirical evidence and the medical profession at large) - more rational minds would extend such a courtesy.

Presenting this option to JP, however, is like offering a vampire a stake through the heart - it would signal the end of his happy existence there in the Land of Make Believe (and he'll never do it). Furthermore, having to change the name of his book to 'Reverse Essential Tremor' post-DaTscan just doesn't have the same appeal...

Don't see what a current dat scan would prove without a confirmed previous one displaying symptoms?

I only noted that a Datscan was a bit less drastic than an autopsy. Elsewhere JP explained he was requesting an autopsy to confirm his PD diagnosis (with the implication it might matter at all to anyone whether he had PD after his death or not). A Datscan or autopsy will show you have it at the time. If GDNF is magic neuron-mending paint and it is successfully sprayed on the neurons in the substantia nigra by fast walking, then maybe that will explain why JP's autopsy or Datscan don't show PD. If it doesn't

It's a tricky business trying to prove you have something and simultaneously don't have it because you have a unique for-all-time, universal methodology which is the only proven (sic) cure for PD.

Ah but you have one big advantage. He should show PD changes as John Pepper says he still has PD and the symptoms reappear if he stops fast walking. It takes about 6 weeks mind for them to reappear!

Amendment: today JP wrote “I can go without the walking for about six months before my symptoms return to a level where I have to either do the fast walking or take medication”

This implies he has gone 6 months without fast walking on occasions. He doesn't give that impression elsewhere. I think we both realise JP almost certainly doesn't have PD, and a datscan would confirm that. I will be interested to see my week 24 datscan...

Several years ago I had a DATScan with similar results only showing more depletion on the left side. This is considered to be the definitive test of PD.

Having established that, I adopted the motto, "I have PD, but PD does not have me!"
