Nothing is working

Hello, everyone. Still trying to get my dad some relief from his tremors without any results. He is now on Pramipexole and tried Neupro patch. 4 mg patch didn't help with tremors, so the dosage was increased to 6 mg. Because of these patches he started having bladder problems. ( could no go to the bathroom). Went to the ER twice. I called neurologist and he said that this is not a common side effect of the patch, but to try and remove it. Dad's tremor got worse. He is also taking dopa mucuna company Now. 2 pills a day. I was wondering if he can increase the dose. Not sure if this is safe, because it says take 2. Thank you for your replies.

You do not say his age, Parmipexel, over time causes augmentation, -the symptoms may get worse, or expand to other limbs. Perhaps dopamine-based medication may help, using the minimum dose that works. Perhaps, consult the doctor again. Your dad may be on of those who doesn't go to the doc, or properly describe the constraints that tremors make, but living with tremors does not have to happen nowadays, it is great to have times without tremors.

Are his tremors resting tremors and are they one-sided, or did they start that way? Prior commenter is right to inquire about the validity of the diagnosis.

Nothing wrong with taking mucuna but if you are concerned about going natural the dopamine agonists - Pramipexole and Neupro - are a much bigger issue. Has he ever tried a time-release version of levodopa carbidopa, such as Sinemet CR or Rytary? If so did that help him?

My dad had tremor in right arm and left leg. Now both arms. He tried Sinemet, but couldn't tolerate it due to pain in his chest. Not sure if this is common side effect.

His diagnosis needs to be re- evaluated because Parkinson's is unlikely - both sided tremor and no benefit from any Parkinson's med.

If he reacted to the levodopa in Sinemet and that is what caused the chest pain, increasing the dopa mucuna, which is taken for its levodopa content might not be a good idea. Definitely talk to his doctor.

Hi texasL. I don't know how old your dad is, perhaps you can tell me. I am 84 yo. I have had Pd symptoms since 1963. In 1994 I started doing fast walking and in 2002, at the age of 68, I was able to come off all Pd medication and have lived a 'normal' life since then. It may not work for your dad but at least have a look at it.

Look at my website - reverseparkinsons.net and contact me. I do not charge anybody for what I do, so you have nothing to lose.
