Can anyone or does anyone out there know for a fact what they use in zandopa mucuna as a sweetener.? I have tried to ask the manufacturers but no response. Im just worried that the mucuna is doing a goid job but is the sweetener a problem?

Can mucuna users recomend a measurable mucuna product that is equal to the 100/25 sinemet as zandopa seems to be the only product that is quantifiable. Interested in replies.

Hi, There was a post and video on this site from a Dr.Nisal who seemed know a lot about Mucuna. I think you can e-mail him a question. I take 3 capsules a day of Mucuna but not sure how much seminet that represents. I also take B1. I would like to know to so I may check with him myself.

Zandopa uses plane sugar as a sweetener

Zandopa has been ineffective for my husband. What works for him is Barlowe's Seed Extract 650mg, 40% L-dopa, 3xday. Also, DopaBoost is another good one.

He is early stage although symptoms started about 5-6 years ago. He was diagnosed March of this year. No pharmaceuticals, just Mucuna and supplements. He also is on B1 injections therapy.

Hello Despe

What are his symptoms ? Does he have tremor?

How much better did his symptoms improved with Barlowe extract? I mean what's left of his symptoms?

And if you don't mind me asking, how old is your husband?

Thank you

Despe profile image
Despe in reply to Grumpy77

He is tremor dominant RH, RF and LH (thumb) although I haven't noticed any tremors but once or twice (infrequent and intermittent) during the night. He has bradykinesia and a little scooped posture. He is in his early 70s. On Barlowe's extract he acts more normal and walks like he used to before PD. Currently, he is on a week break from B1 injections. Local DO said his PD progresses very, very slowly. :) I attribute it to his life long exercising.

How much Zandopa he'd been taking before changing to the extract?

Despe profile image
Despe in reply to Greenday

He tried 1, 2, 3, and 4 scoops (the measuring spoon enclosed). I have a feeling the sweetener affects the efficacy.

Angora12 profile image
Angora12 in reply to Despe

When u say 1234 scoops it how many scoop per dose and how many times a day

Despe profile image
Despe in reply to Angora12

He tried every combination, 2 spoons a day, 3 spoons a day and 4 spoons (2 sp at a time). He told me he could not tell the difference. The funny thing is that he gets the tremors after he takes L-dopa!! Don't know what to think.

Hi Despe. Did you find out why he gets the tremors after taking the dopa? My husband has started taking mucuna a while ago and seems to get the shakes now. He wasn’t shaking before he started taking it so I am not sure if he is getting worse or if it is the Mucuna. Thanks.

Despe profile image
Despe in reply to LAJ12345

Your guess is as good as mine. . .unless they don't have PD. :)

What dopaboost does he use? When the mucuna effect is gone does he shakes a lot? Anything he uses to get his mucuna to work longer? I take mucuna but it doesnt last very long. I take my dosis and after 3 hours of taking it I am off again

Despe profile image
Despe in reply to Mucuna123

He drinks green tea, takes vit C, and Quercetin with Bromelain with Keter Wellness Mucuna L-Dopa 20%, two pills a day. He was taking mucuna L-dopa 40% but he thought it was high. Even 20% may be high and thinking about 15% L-Dopa. No, he doesn't shake when he is "off" but I noticed brain fog.

Mucuna123 profile image
Mucuna123 in reply to Despe

Thank you so much. Does he takes everything together at the same time( green tea+ vitc+ quercetin+ mucuna) or mucuna+geen tea some times and other times mucuna with vitamin c? Any brands that you would recommend? What amount of green tea, vitamin c and quercetin?

Despe profile image
Despe in reply to Mucuna123

He takes Mucuna, Vit C (500 mg or less), and Quercetin with Bromelain (NOW brand name) together with a glass of water, and immediately after that starts drinking a good size cup of green tea. That's his morning dose. For the afternoon dose, he takes Mucuna with a half glass of lemon water (which is also Vit C). If you prefer green tea, you can have it with all your doses of Mucuna. Depending on the L-Dopa strength (15%, 20%, or 40%), there different brands you can choose from. Just google Mucuna at different strengths and you will find plenty of information. I order my husband's from AMAZON. It's hard to find the right strength and dose so be prepared for trial/error until you find the right amount for you.

Thank you so much! I am excited about trying that. Any brand of green tea that you recommend?

Despe,

Would you tell me how to use? Just with water before food?

Despe profile image
Despe in reply to sudoku123

Do you mean Mucuna? If yes, one hour before food or two hours after food.

sudoku123 profile image
sudoku123 in reply to Despe

Despe, Thank you. I am newly diagnosed, still looking for the right dose of Mucuna.

Now using 15% L-dopa, but just 4 days. I am only 105 pounds, I want to start slowly.

Despe profile image
Despe in reply to sudoku123

Yes, you start slowly, and go up if you don't respond to 15% L-dopa. Also, it depends on age, the older one is the less L-dopa he/she needs to start with. Consider B1 therapy, too.

Despe Thank you. I am using B1 500 mg but only for 2 weeks. I also have limb tremor and weakness. I stopped to use Sinemet but with Mucuna the same even with a small dose. I heard about Vibrocetine( supplement) and Benztropine.

If you will find solution let me know. Happy Holidays.

Sudoku, my mom have a terrible limb tremor as well, she can't even hold a glass with ot splitting out everything I try so many vitamins for her. Her body motor function went bad for the past years. But I give her 1/2 100/25 Sinemet with 600mg Magnesium Bis Glycinate and 100mg B1 Thiamine hcl in the morning and lunch 500mg Myo Inositol. And about 5pm give her 1 tsp Niacin mixed with yoghurt and 7 pm give her on other 1/2 Sinemet with 100mg B1 hcl, and after 4 weeks her anxiety attack started to disappear and her leg and hand tremor lessened quiet noticeable. And she moves better.. So far this is my experience with her.. She is 75. What i'm thinking try the Mucuna prurient as well from india.. The goal is eliminate tremor much as possible..
