Why i deleted my post on treatment of psychosomatic chronic idiopathic disease

bassofspades profile image
49 Replies

Yesterday i wrote a post about psychosomatic chronic idiopathic disease including pain, anxiety and pd. I took it down because I don't feel that i am experienced enough in the topic that I can answer tough questions about it. And since the subject is somewhat controversial i was sure i would draw criticism. So i am continuing my studies and may post again at a later time. Meanwhile, if you want more information, read dr John Sarno's book, The Divided Mind: The Epidemic of Mindbody Disorders, and see the videos by Nicole Sachs here,

youtube.com/channel/UC-tz1D...

As i mentioned yesterday, these people dont claim to cure pd but i think the same principles apply.

Thank you,

Bassofspades

Bass I appreciate "thinking outside of the box" posts and I hope you will keep on posting. Thanks - JG

Yeah bass, we all post stuff because we think it's interesting and hope somebody might benefit from it -- doesn't mean we have to defend it. I watched all the videos and found them very interesting.

See how my perfectionist personality just ties right in with the type of patient typical for this type of thing?

I could tell you have a perfectionist personality, bassofspades. We, musicians, are like that! It's a good thing that we are looking into all avenues of finding ways to help us deal with PD!

ah I was wondering where it went. I watched one video. Was interesting. Anyway on random youtube videos I thought this one cheered me up before bed (and I think it is very important to be in a happy frame of mind before bed):

I watched the videos and thought it was very interesting. We (PWPs) have enough anxiety without worrying about being flamed for trying to help.

Heres a copy and paste of something i just wrote to my good friend Kia...

Im halfway into his latest book (dr sarno) and this is all coming together, my good friend. Some how i feel (that there is) a connection with the science of it and rocksteady boxing (venting your rage) and pdrecovery.org's theories (personality roots and feeling safe).

I have a feeling that a cure is not going to come from pharmaceutical companies, just therapies to help symptoms, as we already have available. The cure is going to come way out of left field.

i've often thought about anger connection too as i did RSB for over 2 years....i think also it helps with fear...at least for me .... it made me feel stronger and less vulnerable....like i was strong and i could fight back... i think that is the another psychological and physiological benefit. i think fear and anger are the big two.

Thanks Bass, I viewed all the videos (the good stuff is in part 4 of the Nicole Sachs videos for those of you who might get put off by the first three) and a very interesting one on Dr Sarno being interviewed. If your personality is close to being a "goody" and a perfectionist, I can recommend taking a look.

There was an Israeli scientist on this site, I can't find it now. I think it was to do with unresolved childhood trauma. There was another I tried to read about ankle injuries thar haven't healed properly and their effects on meridians. There's something ring's true in this line of enquury

bassofspades profile image
bassofspades in reply to Johnmo

The childhood trauma thing is indeed a piece of the puzzle. The ankle trauma idea comes from pdrecovery.org. thank you!

I went to a 'big think' for ATI (action towards inclusion). It started to draw me out of my shell of years gone by from when I was struggling to find work an unable to use my hard won degrees. That's a source of anger. Then an ex convict came knocking at my door, unable to get employers to take him on so delivered to my town by his supervisor to peddle domestic goods

There's a free download about this called Yin Tui Na: Techniques for Treating Injuries of Parkinson's Disease and any Dissociated Injuries by Dr. Janice Walton Hadlock, DAOM. Evidently, people who have had ankle injuries are more likely to get PD. Dr. Hadlock writes that the Yin Tui Na doesn't work if you have used Sinemet (C/L) for even a short amount of time. However, in the Howard Shifke book Fighting Parkinson's and Winning (I know I've seen this referenced on this site), Shifke's wife held his ankle for 5 minutes each night and it stopped his tremors. This was along with a lot of other OM techniques not part of the Yin Tui Na.

Im having some reiki therapy. I want to believe but It's difficult to tune in to what she's doing with my analytical mind

MylovedhasPd profile image
MylovedhasPd in reply to Johnmo

Reiki is the gift of pure energy from the Universe via the practitioner. And it is the gift of receiving unconditional love. Also, it gives the receiver time out - in a space of safety where for a brief while there are no interruptions, no demands made. Head stuff will calm when the body calms. As receiver your energy system opens by choice to rebalancing of energy flow in all aspects of your being. Say "I choose to allow rebalance of energy flow to enhance my body's natural ability to heal." Then book a session! ps I'd recommend a quiet practitioner who doesn't interpret or ask you to..... I simply ask "how was it?" and listen. The receiver hears themselves speak their own experience ( which may contain an 'aha'!). Enjoy!

Bass,

Thank you for sharing the posts above. I have only been on this site a few months but it is reading things like you shared that gives me hope that we as a community will find and post here the out of the box answers.

I am almost 6 years post DX. I have chosen not to take the pharmaceutical path until now, given great concerns by my doctors and sweetheart about several falls I have had because of Retropulsion. I have agreed to a one month trial of low-dose C/L. That said, I am working with Dr Constantini, and am five weeks into the protocol. Too soon to tell.

Thank you for bringing up the Sarno book. Intend to buy today. Happy to share any insights here.

Namaste.

Natasha

❤thank you Connie! Essentially the original post was the links to the videos and my theory about why i think it could make people with any chronic disease of unknown origin (idiopathic) feel better, and that should not exclude Parkinson's disease for the most part. Reading the book by Dr John Sarno helps explain it better than i could.

Not sure what thread I'm on. Just seem to be hopping about. I'm trying to find my symptoms. I though I had dystonia, meaning to me - loss of muscle tone. I now realise that was up the wrong tree. Distonia, diskinesia, spasticity, spasm, stiffness, rigidity, cramps, tremor, cogwheel ing, ratcheting I don't get.

I do have postural instability, muscle weakness, swallowing problems, balance problems, nauseous feelings in my arms and chest, brain fog, depression, anxiety like waiting for finals for a degree, constipation....

I think the multiple choice form I filled in for the neurologist didn't let me express this adequately. It was narrowed down and tailored to indicate more Ben l dopa. Sometimes I wonder if I've got the same thing.

bassofspades profile image
bassofspades in reply to Johnmo

L dopa is just one of the many neurotransmitters that can be out of balance. Serotonin, norepinephrine, epinephrine and GABA can also go haywire. For me, what helped was Dr Marty Hinz Amino Acid Protocol. Might be something you'd want to look into.

For those following this thread, i sent Ms Nicole Sachs a message tonight:

Dear Ms Sachs, in your experience, have you ever seen a case of parkinson's diseases cured using the techniques used for curimg tms? I have Parkinsons and tms and I have learned that the typical personality traits, good, perfectionist, stoic, pleaser, are similar in both cases. As i am just learning about tms, and not even half way through Dr Sarno's book, I am actually noticing much of my Parkinsons symptoms are diminishing! Especially the anxiety related symptoms. It may be too soon to make a conclusion but this could potentially be earth shattering, as parkinson's is currently thought to be incurable. Please contact me so we can explore this further!

Well, lets see if she replies. Meanwhile, i am feeling extremely well and enjoying the ride. I hope this is the real deal and i wish to take as many of you with me as are willing to take this ride too.

Nicole wrote back, and promptly.....

Hi there! I’m glad to hear you are becoming inspired. Although I can’t claim to cure diseases like cancer or Parkinson’s (of course), I have seen great reduction in symptoms for people who do my work. EVERYTHING has a mind/body component and you can only improve your life.

I hope this helps. If you would like further information on the course or scheduling a one on one, let me know.

Be well,

Nicole

Nice, quick response. Her 3rd video analogy of holding a Beach ball underwater with our legs while juggling everything else above the water line is a good one. The premise that we release some things (repressed emotions represented by the taughtly-held Beach ball) in order to heal, is identifiable and workable. Her 3-column journaling in Video #3 will help a lot of people ...

Amazing follow up here! Its been less than 2 weeks. I came home from work so excited yesterday. Here's the story.

I am a tech in a cardiac cath lab. We basically check people for coronary artery disease and do angioplasty and stents if we find blocked arteries. We do lots of other procedures too. A STEMI is a term used to describe an emergent deadly heart attack from a severely blocked coronary. It is during these stemi procedures that we are the most rushed with urgency to get these blockages opened up and historically for me, that is when my tremors are the absolute worst. a combination of nervous anxiety and the speed i need to move makes me shake horribly . Last night i was on call and we got a stemi. Out of the 40 possible doctors, this case had been assigned to the fastest one. And he had it in him to put me and the rest of the call team to the speed test! Well about halfway through the procedure i realized that i was keeping up with him without even the slightest tremor! by the end of the case, i felt a huge dopamine rush of victory, the patient did great and so did i! No tremor! I didnt even take my evening dose of my amino acids that time. And what proves it wasnt a one time deal, i went to work the next day and did tremor free procedures all day!

I have no doubt that this miracle is the result of my newly discovered information on mind/body syndrome TMS.

I will continue as i have been doing and I encourage anyone with an open mind to go for it. The mind body connection between idiopathic young onset parkinson's disease and soul-freeing truth-seeking through journaling is clear as a bell for me. I read dr Sarno's book and Nicole Sachs book too. The answers are right there, my good friends. Good luck and God bless us all.

WOW! congratulations!! i am so happy for your success. :) my pd is more advanced than yours - im not able to work - but i still believe this is the right path toward healing for me... the personality type Dr Sarno and others talk about sounds very much like co-dependency. here is a link which lists characteristics....

i recently started attending meetings and it is helping me mentally and emotionally. interestingly the recovery also includes writing things out...

Dear Bassofspades,

I want to thank you for posting this info, I have been journaling every day since I read about it here and have watched numerous videos by Nicole Sachs. I am currently listening to Dr. Sarno on youtube, what a wonderful, insightful man.

It has all been very helpful. Thank you!
