Confused and floundering!

Hi I've just been reading some posts and am amazed at all the knowledge and suggestions you all offer. I was diagnosed 16 months ago. Sort of. Parkinsons or Peroxetine induced parkinsonism. I saw a consultant last October who wants to see me again this October. A year? I don't really know who I should be contacting when I need help. The G.P isn't switched on . Contacting a specialist nurse is hit and miss. I feel a little isolated. I take co-Careldopa 25mg. 2 to staff but put up to 4 a day by the nurse. I don't think I've got my head round it yet.!

Hello,

What is Peroxetine induced parkinsonism?

Hi, I understand that taking some tablets long term, peroxetine, solifenacin ( for an overactive bladder ) and I'm sure my Dr also named naproxen, can morph or encourage PD like symptoms. I have read that stopping these tablets can reduce symptoms. But neither dr or consultant suggested this. I do often read up on different aspects of PD but frankly scare myself silly. So I ignore the internet for a while. I take those three medications too .

Many neurological meds can cause tremors and paroxetine is one of them. The obvious solution is to see if you can do without or a different med can be substituted. You cannot quit this cold turkey and must taper of slowly.

Loading you up with additional medication to compensate does not seem wise, unless and until it is established that you actually have PD.

This is the place. Where are you in the world? Your profile doesn't say. Support from clinicians is limited sadly and hence this is why HU is so valuable. But there are lots and lots of 'potions' and the community tends to follow trends out of hope. For example, coconut oil was all the rage a while back but it's rarely discussed any more (that's not to say it doesn't help some and it's probably still taken by many). Generally you need to de-stress your life, exercise hard, pursue a plant based diet (in my opinion) and involve yourself in activities that challenge you. Keep relating to people and drink lots of green tea. Investigate B1 and Mannitol and hope for the best!
