My levo meds don't work like they use to. Does caffien energy drinks help or hurt my situation. They do help fight the drowsy effects of my PD meds. Any thoughts or advice?

My husband is having the same problem with his carbo/levo wearing off too soon now. If he takes too much then he has hallucinations. He is addicted to it and so afraid his doctor won't give him more. It is a viscious cycle.

He was told caffeine would make it worse. We try everything and nothing really helps except the carbo/.levo. A little marijuana and wine do help calm him down. I don't much care for his neurologist, but he does seem to approve of the marijuana. I'm learning to grow my own where it is legal here in California.

Good point. I stopped smoking marijuana 8 years ago after a pain clinic threated to stop my pain meds., only to realize that all of a sudden, I had PD., after a lifetime moderate hemp smoking. So, here I am 8 years later, dealing with the progressing hell of PD. The doctors, and lawmakers in NC play God with peoples' lives. The struggle continues. All advise and comments appreciated.

Maybe add mucuna in the off times..I've read people here do that.

Have you tried reducing the dose you are on for a day or so , or changing the time you take it? (a ploy I have used to overcome such periods).

Also, the hot weather seems to knock effectiveness of Ldopa based drugs as well (or the body thermostat / regulator ceases to function as it should - shortfall in Potassium Sodium balance in cells due to dehydrating process maybe? not sure.) and I currently find myself having to drink more and keeping as cool as possible to maximise their effect.

Off to get myself a large glass of water with a little salt & sugar in it.

Regards Andy

Both Coffee and Tea made my tremors worse. I have not drunk either of them for over 25 years.

Have you tried doing exercise to help you overcome your Pd symptoms? If not, then look at my PROFILE or go to me website, reverseparkinsons.net and contact me.

Here again you confuse me. I'm 100% sure I read a post from you sometime ago where you said don't have tremors

I wish I did write a post about me not having tremors and it be true, but, no I haven't written a post about me, not having tremors. Ideal with tremors every day.

Hi Grumpy

I have said, many times, I do not have a Resting Tremor. I do have an action or essential tremor.

You might find a ketogenic diet, to be helpful in reducing symptoms. The diet is a very low carbohydrate, high fat diet. It requires a lot of research. I also supplement my diet with MCT oil to help raise the ketones levels. There are also ketone salts available to give you a quick boost in ketones for several hours, and might be a good place to start, to see if ketones are of any help to improving your symptoms.

thanks, i will look into the salts and oil. There is no hope of trying a diet as he is never hungry.

My husband did try the mucuna and it didn't help. Azilect is supposed to make his dopamine drug last longer. Not sure if it does, but it does make him dizzy.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago at age 63. Symptoms were tremor in right leg, loss of handwriting ability,My normally beautiful cursive writing was now small cramped printing and soft voice. I also had difficulty rising from a seated position and have balance issues. I started out taking only Azilect, then Mirapex, and then Sinemet. Several months ago I started falling frequently, hence the reason for Sinemet. During the summer of 2021, I was introduced to Health Herbs Clinic and their effective Parkinson’s herbal protocol. This protocol relieved symptoms significantly, even better than the medications I was given. Visit www . healthherbsclinic . com , After First month on treatment, my tremors mysterious stopped, had improvement walking. After I completed the treatment, all symptoms were gone. I live a more productive life. I was fortunate to have the loving support of my husband and family. I make it a point to appreciate every day!
