I completely understand that "success" is in the eye of the beholder and I also understand that success is sometimes the result of dumb luck. That said, I am interested in hearing from people diagnosed 10 years ago or more who feel as if they are successfully dealing with Parkinson's Disease. To what do you attribute your success? Some of you are already my role models, but I'm a newbie on here hoping to learn all I can. Thank you in advance!

Diagnosed 13 years ago at 49. I am fairly fit and can get around unaided, I have no dyskinesia. My worst symptom is constipation. I take your point that it could all be down to luck, but I feel that the following may have helped:

- I try to walk 5 miles every day;

- I have a drug regimen (5x75mg Stalevo, 1mg rasagiline, 8mg ropinirole) that is smoother than just levodopa/carbidopa.

High dose thiamine typically remedies the constipation within a couple of weeks.

Hi Jim. I don't know if you have read my book or looked at my website. I was diagnosed in 1992 and have been Pd medication-free since 2002. Please contact me.

Thanks Jim. Are you doing the walking?

I alternate between fast walking or fast cycling 3 days per week.
